My bunny was recently with another bunny and they are normally fine but today the other bunny nipped at mine, i think pulling out some fur with him. As soon as i let my bunny back in his cage he started shaking a lot and went straight to lay down. He seemed fine when he was up but then he would lay down and shake again. He also let me pet him while he was laying down which he doesn’t normally do.

He’s shaking a little less now but he’s still shaking. I’m not really sure what to do.

Hmm that doesn’t sound normal after just a nip or two… Were you supervising them the whole time? How is your bunny doing now?

I’m on high alert right now because of the RHDV outbreak.

He’s better now. He almost seems back to his normal self I’m just trying to keep an eye on him. It was like he was in shock or something.

Poor baby, was it hot out? Maybe he got overheated? Or very scared from something?

It definitely wasn’t hot so he had to have been scared. I was just freaking because he never let me pet him when he was laying down like that and kept getting up for a few seconds and then laying right back down. He seems to be a lot better right now so hopefully it was just a scare.

He must have been trying to calm down. Sometimes rabbits will even do “the flop” to help calm the heart rate.

Good to read he’s doing better.

Glad he’s doing better. Are you trying to bond them?

We slowly are yes. It’s hard, I’m not really sure what the best thing to do is. We started by keeping one in a cage and one out so they could sniff each other and then we would hold them when they were close.
