Even though I got what we call a dig bowl for Felix, he still loves to climb all over our clean laundry. He digs at it and scooches it under his rump. I understand that rabbits love to dig and its cute, but I don’t want any accidents to occur while he’s doing this. I pick him up and put him in the dig bowl, trying to show him where he is supposed to dig. Will this work or should I try something else?

It should work, but I thought of another idea. If you took a 100% cotton sheet (clean but old, or super cheap if new) and cut it into pieces without any threads hanging off, you could pile those into his diggy box to play with. It may distract him from your laundry. I would keep the laundry out of his reach – at least high up – and his own pile of cloth where he can get to it easily.

Cotton is safer to chew. Threads are bad for digestion, so you don’t want him chewing those edges. You could also just get a yard to cut from a fabric bolt. I just find a sheet is easy and usually there’s one that’s ready to be rags anyway. Natural, or light colors have less dye, too, btw.

Oh, and to increase interest in his diggy box that you have already, hide a small treat, like a raisin or two, inside it. He’ll dig to find it and get a reward. He’ll come back to look for more there after that.

That’s too cute! Yes – I agree with RabbitPam, that the laundry will have to be folded somewhere Felix can’t reach. I used to have a short laundry basket – Baxter loved pulling dirty laundry out and rearranging it. But he had standards – he always rejected my husband’s undershirts. and I’d find them down the hall. At first, I was upset that my husband was just dropping his undershirt anywhere – then I realized it wasn’t him, but our naughty bunny 🙂
