Better late than never, although some of you have seen a few of my posts by now.
I’m a freshman college student living with a family member, she got me into bunnies, although even before I was thinking of getting one. The main reason being I was struggling with depression after losing my dog I grew up with, I still do even now even though it’s been almost a year. Not that it was the only reason, I love animals, I’ve had from birds to reptiles and something charmed me about rabbits, and I had done a lot of research previous to buying one. I also love gardening organically, so I spoil my bunnies.
I know now I should’ve adopted but I got Clementine (holland lop) and Negan (lionhead) from a pet store, both about 6 months now, I absolutely fell in love with Clementine when I got to hold her, as soon as I got her she started giving me kisses and nibbling my shirt, I know baby bunnies are very free with their kisses but she seemed extra sweet. Negan was initially a she, but he fooled us all, he was my family’s rabbit but I’ve taken up the responsibility for him, I really enjoy taking care of both of them and cleaning after them.
Clementine is the sweetest and calmest bunny you may meet, or she just may be deaf. I can vacuum right next to her cage and she’d be sleeping or laying down not giving a care about anything. Even while unspayed she is a very well behaved and tempered bun, she never shows aggression even in her cage, she does poop outside of her cage but never pees (yet!). But most of all, she loves food, she will softly honk will eating anything. She likes climbing on me to and jumping on my back to get a better view of things.
Negan on the other hand, he gets his name from the Walking Dead and you can guess what he’s like. He’s very mischievous, no sense of rules, and loves destroying things. We still put up with him, he’s got an evil charm to him. He’s not as sweet as Clem, he’s more jumpy, he will accept head rubs sometimes but he prefers running in his tunnels.
I do not regret getting rabbits at all, even for their price with vet bills, to me they almost seem like vegan cats, they have so much individuality and are goofy. It’s been a rocky road at first but I’m getting the hang of it as a beginner and they’ve been helping with my demons.
Thanks for putting up with all 3 of us so far BB.
