My bun has been quite the handful in the last few days. Tonight was the peak and I’m not really sure what to do. Lately, he has taken up chewing his xpen A LOT and now has learned how to jump on top of his litter box, which would make him able to hop over the xpen panels and escape. I knew to expect it, but I wasn’t ready for him to learn that so soon. I know the quickest solution would be to buy and even taller x pen, but they are very expensive and I don’t think I could purchase one right now. I placed a fitted sheet over the top of the x pen and it is a very short term fix and not to mention an eyesore. I realize the current last resort is to free roam full time which I have considered for the future but I’m not ready for that yet, and neither is my mom who makes the main calls. Help!

          What a little stinker!

You could build a top out of NIC grids. It won’t be particularly pretty either, but it would be a safer/more functional option than the fitted sheet. I got mine at Bed Bath and Beyond.

Can you move the litter box or the xpen so that it’s less of a step to hop over? Or maybe cardboard to make them taller by the litterbox? At least for a temp solution. That said, I saw some pretty tall xpens for around $50 on amazon, but I wonder if you could maybe see any being sold 2nd hand for cheap on craigslist or such? People get the for puppies sometimes and then don’t need them anymore, or no longer have the pet. Good luck with the rascal!

I was getting pretty fed up because I didn’t want him to be a rascal and escape but I bunny proofed the room and now he free roams with an xpen as his “home base”. I would like to remove the xpen so we completely share a room but my mom isn’t up to that yet.

i started free-roaming him and his boredom behaviors went away pretty fast. I unfortunately can’t get Louie a friend right now but I’ve been giving him lots of love and he seems to be feeling less bored.
