On the 10th I took my 9 month old bunny Kookie to get spayed and the vet offered an upgrade to laser surgery, saying it had less blood loss, less swelling, less pain, and healed faster, so of course I opted for it, but now it’s the 14th and my bunny is already acting perfectly normal.

I was curious as to if anyone knew the difference between the laser surgery and the normal spay surgery? I saw a post before mentioning a cold laser treatment after the surgery, but my vet made it seem like the actual surgery was done with the laser instead

        Thanks!

Haha, she is cute munching her food there.

Great to hear she’s recovered swiftly.

I believe the procedure is still the same, it’s just that all incisions are being made with laser rather then scalpel. As your vet said, it reduces inflammation/selling which can be painful. It is also quicker, so your pet is not under anaesthetic.as long.
This page goes quite a bit into laser surgery. It does contain some graphic images in last half, so avoid that if you’re squeamish. The 1st half give good overview of surgery using a laser.
