Just call them by their name! They learn pretty quickly!

Ya, but I thought they would just not even know what I am saying. LoL

they learn the sounds.  Meadow can recognize her name, when she wants to, but i also call her Baby Girl much of the time, so it may be a bit confusing for her.  she definitely recognizes “out” and treats”.

Kokanee actually recognizes when other people call her by name. Just keep using the name, you’ll be surprised how fast they learn!!

They don’t understand the words per se, but what they do know is the sound, rthym and inflections of their names. Maryann pretends she doesn’t know her name so she can keep on doing the michief after I tell her to stop.

LOL sounds like Kokanee!! Sometimes if I’m far away and telling her to stop something, she’ll look right at me and keep doing it!!

I tried calling him by several names the first night but he came right over when we called JS Spock. Then I would call it twice quickly in a special sing-song voice and he always knew it. He’d come to me. Sometimes he liked where he was and acknowledged me with a look, but a refusal to come.

yes its not the word they know its the tone of voice you use, i could call sh*thead! in stead of hopscotch! and he would recognise it because of the tone, but yes he knows when i call him and turns round to look at me, occasionally with the stink eye if i have disturbed him from something interesting lol

I have a feeling that my buns are starting to think their names are Hi-Kay & Hi-Winston. 😉

I believe our four bunnies all believe their names are “Bad Bad Bunny!”

But dont forget that rabbits are just like anything/anyone else- they have selective hearing! My buns only seem to come when called if it benefits them in some way lol

Cooper is the only one who comes most of the time when called.

I’m not sure it’s even selective hearing… In my house it is more like, “I hear you, I understand what you are saying… and I choose to ignore you!

My bunnies know their names I think – the funniest is Kramer because he’ll take a couple nips and the carpet and I say “Kramer, NO” in a low voice, and then he’ll look up at me with these big bunny eyes, and then while keeping his eyes on me, he’ll slowly lower his mouth back down and start eating the carpet again!

Jack knows his name, and Bailey knows “come here”, and Rucy has begun to think her name means to sniff the ground. I think because I’ve accidentally trained her. I call her name and scatter food around their cage (I usually want to create some sort of foraging when I feed them instead of putting it in a bowl) ANYWAY, now when I call her name, she starts sniffing the ground.

She has quickly figured out what “up” means, because I feed her up on top of her hidey house too so she can get a head start, so that Jack won’t hog all of the food. So I just say “up, up, up” and she jumps up on anything nearby.

my bunnies all know they’re names, however this does not mean they’ll come when i call them. sometimes they’ll look at me when i say their names, and other times, they won’t deign to acknowledge me.

yet magically I shake the container of papaya tablets and I’m everybunny’s best friend.

Boy, do I know that look that Kramer gives you! The return to the bad behavior while staring you in the face! It’s the mime version of “I’m being bad. I know it. Watch me do it again. I dare you to punish me. Go ahead.”

LOL @ rabbitpam yes I do mainly when he has run into the kitchen and I am calling him to get him back into the living room before he lets all the heat out and he is to intent on smelling something imaginary lol
But I definitely do think he calls me that under his breath especially when I have just given him his thorough grooming once a week with ear checks and all hehe (he is a lion head and I have like 4 different brushes to get under all that fur hehe)
