A little on the late side, Kibou has started the Lionhead shed out!!!! Yipeee!

For those unfamiliar with the breed, Lionhead youngsters are complete fluffballs – as can be witnessed by looking at other pics of Kibou…and when they are around 5-6 months old they “shed” out their fluff on their backs and faces, leaving the fluffy “skirt” and “mane”.

Yuuki, my male Lionhead, started his shed out in December, at age 6 months and is pretty much finished now.

Kibou right now is 7 1/2 months old (nearly 8) and today I noticed she is starting the shed!!! Same place as Yuuki started, the small of her back, which is now regular bunny fur not fluff!!

This is gonna be so exciting to see my white poofball panda go from poof to smooth!!!

If you split her long back spot in half, you can see the upper half (going from the middle to her head) is a darker grey than her back half…that’s the part starting to shed out!!

You can see the dark “dip” on her back where there is darker ‘normal’ hair and then the fluff…!

Shadow is not a lion head but has started shedding…Ye Gods! You could build another bunny or two from what I have collected. You can’t pet him without getting a hand full, it you go to pick him up he runs away leaving you with fist full of hair. He hates being brushed or combed but will tolerate the top part of him. But don’t go lower! I have to give him a big piece of parsley and casually pull the tufts out. It is hysterical to see him spin around and give me the stink eye every time I try to comb his butt.

What is it about bunny fur that makes it float? Dog and cat hair just hits the floor…bun hair gets airborne and is a bugger to clean up.
