I’m having trouble posting so I hope this doesn’t end up on the forum 3 times!

I know bunnies are always cool , but I am talking temperature wise. We are having a bit of a heat wave here and it is 90 degrees in my house. I know she is hot because we all are! Any suggestions?

on the other forum i frequent, we can sticky threads to the top so they stay there.  can a mod do this with the warmer weather coming up, or move it to a central location?

No kidding!  What’s up with this 90 degree weather???? I live in Mill Valley so I’m getting it too.  Poor Edson was sprawled out – NEVER seen him do that as he is always in the meatloaf position.  I am going to get a small fan. Also frozen water bottles are good to put in their area so they can lie next to them.

Beka, I’ll add the other discussion to the FAQ’s and “pin” it for a week or so.   Yes 90 degrees it absolutely too hot for a rabbit! I’ll also add this as a good read:

Scarlet Rose – Do you think Binky Bunny could be post this on the Home Page in place of the Easter blurb?  This is just excellent advice and we will all need it as summer is right around the corner.

Something you may want to try is a small cookie sheet. I have seen buns who love to flop onto metal or tile as it is a bit cooler than a rug. I know one bun who won’t flop anywhwere except on a flat cookie sheet his human accidentially left out and now it is his personal cool-bed.

The metal transfers the heat from the bun to the metal so it helps cool them off. Now, put it in the fridge for 20 mins and you just might have your next best toy!

Now that is the smartest thing I’ve ever heard!  Great idea unless of course it’s baking in the sun and becomes an oven!

I have natural stone tiles (you can also use ceramic) flipped wrong-side up for traction as well. You can buy single tiles at your local hardware store or even buy cheap cast-offs from the bins at tile stores. They also keep a rabbit nice and cool.

Tiles or patio stones work great too and can look better. Just like metal, they will absorb and dissipate heat. One thing you want to make sure of though is that if you do want to chill metal, only use the fridge – DO NOT put it in the freezer. You don’t want them sticking to the metal as this could be very bad for bun.
