… at an exciting company for a very cool position! as some of you may remember, i have been working from home frelance designing homes. hence the reason i’m able to be here all day
i love what i do but it has become quite isolating. i happened across this job ad last week & thought ‘why not send in a resume’. they called me 15 mins later! i had a brief phone interview with the persident of the company & the h.r. woman and since they wouldn’t be back from georgia until yesterday they asked me to come in the next day. just being in the office board room & discussing working as a team member was exciting.
the designer who was a part of the interview just called to ask if i could come in tomorrow & show her how i can work on cad. yay! i guess they’re seriously considering me! now i’m nervous – which is silly because this young woman was lovely and i know how to draw well on cad. just butterflies in my tummy i guess. cross all crossables for me!
and shhhh… don’t tell my mom! lol. she can’t know i’m applying for jobs or she’ll worry i’m in trouble. she’s even more of a worry-wart than i am!

so just got back from my 2nd interview… wow they’re pretty thorough! i was there for 3 1/2 hours. they had me design a floor plan layout for a 5 bedroom / 2 bath dorm suite in an apartment building they are designing. then i had to design a site layout & calculate how large of a building they could fit on the lot and how much parking was needed as well as draw the layout. and if that wasn’t enough, they wanted me to interpret an email from an official at a building department about a building code issue they’re in a dispute over.
phew. one the designers who i’d be working with was giving me these tasks & said she’ll be talking to her boss about how i did. they’ll call me tomorrow with their decision. i think i did well. but as i was driving away i thought of a bunch of things i’d tweak if i had those layouts infront of me again. thats just how it goes with design it’s just usually i come up with those changes after i’ve reviewed a printout so i can make the change before anyone sees it. i sure hope they thought i did well because it would be a pretty exciting place to work. the fast pace would be a big switch for me – but a welcome one – and i looove that the job involves a bit of this & a bit of that. -not just drafting.
a lot of technical stuff i just wrote there… pardon my rant. i’m keeping this quiet from most of my friends & family until after i hear back from them and so it’s nice to tell the story here
