Hi, just wanting some advice on litter behavior for my cece! For some background info, we had two bonded rabbits (Charlie and Cece), until a couple weeks ago when our sweet baby Charlie passed away. Cece appears to be okay without him, despite our complete heartbreak, so I dont think any of this has to do with this change, however I thought it important to include.
Recently, Cece has been escaping from his pen and immediately peeing on the floor. He has fairly good litter box habits normally, with a few minor incidents here and there, but for some reason as soon as he escapes out of his pen he feels the urgent need to pee. Cece lives in our bedroom, and when not being supervised is kept in his enclosure (a large cage with a pen attached), so we have a litter box inside the cage and one outside. He has not problem using either of these boxes, and uses them daily. However, when he escapes he bypasses the box, looks us dead in the eye and pees. Why could he be doing this? He started this before Charlie’s death, so I don’t believe it has to do with that. Could he just be mad that he doesn’t have access to the rest of the room? I don’t see how this could be the case though, since he didn’t use to do this if he escaped. Any theories or advice would be greatly appreciated!
