Hey everyone!  Just a quick question for you all today

Albus jumps on the bed occasionally, as you’d expect, and I just put him on the floor, its no big deal.

My question is, when I try to go to sleep, (turn lights off and lie down) he seems to do it a lot more, he’ll try four or five times maybe before giving up!

Anyone have any idea why the bed is so much more appealing when I’m trying to sleep? haha!

Funny you bring this up! I was going to mention about this in another thread…

One of my rabbits lives in my bedroom and very much hangs out on the bed.
One thing I’ve noticed is when I go to bed but leave lamp on he’ll hang out eating hay or goes snooze somewhere on the floor.
Once the lamp is off he comes up on the bed shortly after and takes position down the end.
My theory is he is taking up sentinel position. Or feels more secure in dark when close by another.
It seems to be a routine with him. Really relaxed sleeping while I’m present but alert, then up on the bed once lights are out.

Is Albus well behaved up on the bed? TimTim has gone through periods of marking the bed and chewing the bedding. Now at 2 1/2yrs old though, it seems to be thing of the past. Touch wood!

Is there a reason why he’s not allowed on the bed? Marking?

My little one never wants to sleep in bed with me because I tend to kick in my sleep so… she will lay on the floor next to me but she rarely even tries to get on the bed once I lay down anymore because she knows she won’t get a restful sleep if she does ^^

I’m so envious of you, Jelly, to have a bunny sleep in the same bed as you!

My bun Yohio spends most of his time in the bedroom, but he only comes up for treats, sometimes he stays and let me rub his ears and forehead. He spends the night under the bed. And in the mornings (his opinion of what time morning actually occur doesn’t always coincide with mine) he jumps up on the bed and the bedside table or rattle his litter-box or does sth else that makes me rise and provide food.

So my problem is the opposite of yours, Tessie. I want my bunny in my bed! He’s never peed or pooped in the bed, if your bunny does that it’s of course madly inconvenient.

Albus has peed on the bed a few times, but sometimes he doesn’t. He’s not neutered yet though so it’s to be expected!
He licks the bedding too, haha.

So Jerseygirl, you’re saying you think maybe they’re a bit nervous of the dark? Now I feel bad dumping him on the floor! :/ haha

Powder when he was a solo bun would jump in the bed when it was time for lights out and get up with the sun. Though, sometimes he’d come back up to bed after it was light out cause he liked sleeping beside my pillow. Only problem I had was if I ended up stretching out during the night instead of leaving him his path at the foot of the bed, he wouldn’t jump over me to get down and so he couldn’t get to his litter box… and he’d pee on me instead of if that happened. lol And one time he bit a huge bruise on my foot to tell me to move it so he could pass.

I think it’s just their preference to cuddle up to something if they can when it’s dark out. Now, Powder cuddles up to Stickers, but he used to cuddle up to my pillow (and kick me in the face stretching those long back legs out) when he was solo.

Oh no, I think they’re pretty comfy in the dark. I just think its instinct to be in position of a lookout as a single bun. (maybe? )
Maybe popping Albus in a cage or pen at night might suit you and him? (Especially if he’s approaching puberty because he may take up marking the bed. )
Doees he get noisy if penned away?
That’s one reason why I did away with Tim’s pen eventually. His biting at the bars in the early hours was really annoying!

I did have a second rabbit in the room that was penned and that was important for his sense of security. His vision was poor & he was not bonded to TimTim. But he still managed to jump up into the bed during his roam time. It’s funny how they like to be up high at times.
Jersey as a single bun always slept up on a set of drawers. Her & Rumball still mostly do.
I’ve always try to allow my bunnies lot of space but often wonder if lots if space 24/7 is overwhelming for them.

Yeah, I usually end up putting him back home but then he’s noisy, he grabs the bars of the pen and drags the whole thing around which is loud, but at least I don’t worry about him peeing on me, haha!
I’ll probably stick with that for now and once he’s neutered then hopefully he can behave on the bed

On a slightly unrelated note; he’s chewing things more than he used to recently. You know, my laptop, a bit of loose flooring, and he nipped me for no reason…

Is this him reaching the terrible two’s?

BUDDIE also jumps on my bed, but it’s just like a hello, then he jumps off. True he does this more at night when the lights go out. I really wish he would cuddle and or sleep on my bed. I give him so much attention the whole time I’m home, I pet and talk to him. In the morning he always jumps on my pillows and on my face to wake me up, I think just to play cuz he’s always got plenty of food. He not only jumps on my bed, but also on anything he can get up on, like a cat. He jumps up on my desk chair, then up on the desk, then on my night stand, then on my bed. If he could get on my ceiling he would. I stack things like boxes in my closet in stair patterns so he can get pretty high up in there. He still tries to climb up the wall too. I love watching this and he gets great exercise too.

BUDDIE used to pee on my bed, I didn’t know what to do, you can’t slap or hit them, so I decided to treat the situation like I would a dog, I’d pick him up, and rub his nose in it, and say NO PEE then he would clean himself for a long time. After doing that 4 or 5 times, he stopped.
