I am still learning and trying to appreciate my bunny for what he is without expectations. I was curious what are the things you find joy in about having a bunny.
i enjoy watching my buns run binky and flop. they are just sooooo cute when they do that.!
I love watching them eat – it’s just so calming and cute to watch them eat for some reason.
I love watching them lay with their feet out behind them, all relaxed.
I love that I can come home late, and don’t need to take them for a walk, yet I can let them out to run around the house and they don’t make a mess (well, except for the cardboard and phonebook pieces everywhere).
I love watching them do silly things, like get their head stuck in a box, or go crazy for a treat.
Mostly they’re just calming for me. It’s so relaxing to come home and just watch them chill out in the living room at the end of a long day at work.
This is a nice topic.
I love the smell of their coat. I love building them things. I love taking pictures of them. I love how they they recognize my voice. I love their curiosity.
Oh, the list goes on and on…
I like that all my rabbits have very different personalities. Some are thumpy, some are grumpy, some are quiet and some like to bite.
I love giving them treats.
I love listening to them munch too right after I give them their morning salad.
I hate changing litter boxes, but you know I love it when I give them a fresh litter box LOL.
I also love that we can share a little salad together, except I like a little balsamic dressing on mine.
I like how they approve of things having been cleaned, that is nice.
They do approve, I get very negative vibes from the rabbits when I don’t clean up after them – that’s what mom’s are for LOL.
I love knowing that a tiny animal loves me. I love seeing him hop over to me for head pets. I love petting him, snuggling with him, and even having him lick me back. I love seeing how happy he gets after a few raisins. I love seeing huge bunny yawns, binkies and flops. I love building toys and box mazes for him and seeing him play in them. I love seeing him go crazy for pellets and veggies. I love smelling his sweet-smelling bunny coat. I love taking pictures and videos of him. I love teaching him new tricks and seeing how happy he gets after doing training. The list goes on and on.
Hmm….let’s see…..
I love how they show their displeasure. I get the bunny butt all the time and it just makes me laugh cause I usually have no idea what I did. lol
I love how sweet and affectionate Eddie can be.
I love their little attitudes.
I love how they spontaneously get all happy and start racing around and doing binkies.
I love how bonded mine are. They groom each other at night and sleep side by side. It is so adorable and makes me so happy that I got Lollipop.
i think i need to look at the little things and enjoy them. I do enjoy watching him eat and watching him go crazy for craisins. I love to watch him hop around its nice to see him moving he is a lounger. I spend an hour with him in his room before bed and enjoy giving him head pets it is relazing for some reason and makes me feel peaceful.
Thanks for all your comments.
I love the fact that a naturally jittery and spastic animal that wants to run away by instinct can become so calm and peaceful and trusting around humans (who could be threatening in other situations!)
I love watching Bun-Bun eat (like everyone else here of course.) I especially love watching him eat his leafy greens like fennel tops, basil, and cilantro, because he chows down on them like a pig, then licks his mouth with his cute little tongue. Then when he runs over to me, he has fresh herbal breath! Unlike my cats’ breath which smells like rotten fish cat food (sorry, not as pleasant.)
Also when he lays in my lap, he licks my arm to help groom me. That’s so cute.
I forgot about the sweet bunny smell! They just smell so clean and lovely.
I love bunny kisses, even if I have to bribe Otto with food to get kisses from him. I love when Hannah sticks her nose right in my face, even though she never gives me actual kisses.
I love the feel of their fur. It’s so soft, and now dogs and cats feel greasy in comparison.
I too like the bunny smell, my dogs smell like skunks nxt to Eyore. I long for a bunny kiss, I never know if he is going to sniff my face or bite it, ha ha. So far just sniffing.
i love that no matter what, my bunny will always love me for what i am – a food-giver and litterbox-cleaner. haha..
but seriously, i love the way he dances around when he knows it’s times to eat.
i love that i’m teaching him tricks and he’s actually learning pretty well.
i love watching him clean his face.
i love when he runs around and plays.
i love how soft he is and how nice it is when i lay on the floor nose-to-nose and take turns grooming each other.
i love when he comes out of nowhere and just head butts my feet.
i love how goofy he is.
I love how a small banana that cost me 12 cents can make so many little dudes so happy. Bunnies binkying and begging on their tiptoes, piggies squealing and weeking, then everyone just quietly smacking as they grab their bite and run to different corners of the room to enjoy.
Just wish they were that happy to see me! 😉
I love how smudge will run to me and demand pets, making little grunty happy noises when i pet her.
I even love how Monkey will hop away when I try to pet her. She will inly hop one or 2 times, just enough to get out of reach, then turn and look at me all cute like. hehe
I love how Moose gets all shy around new people, and will hide in his paper bag after binkying. He gets embarrassed if he is caught
And I love how they ALL dance for their dinner now
I love bunnies for all the reasons everyone has already mentioned…so I’ll add a reason in the form of multimedia LOL
I love coming home and my stress goes away by looking at cha chas cute face.
I love when bunnies eat. Its funny watching food disappear so quickly.
I like when my bunny demands Pets and gives me kisses afterward
The one of Blu in the box reminds of Lolli one night. I had a the same size box for them, only flipped over with 2 holes cut in it. They loved it. One night I was sleeping on the couch and I woke up to someone shaking the box and making a racket. Apparently Lolli was having some issues in the box or something cause she just had it all kinds of shaking and stuff from the inside. I thought they were fighting until I realized Eddie was outside the box. LOL
I thought of other things I love about them –
I love how they take advantage of ANY and EVERY opportunity to go somewhere they know they’re not allowed to be.
I love how they just expect YOU to move out of their immediate path even though they can either go in between your feet or around you without any problems.
I love how Eddie comes up and just randomly gives my toes kisses.
I love how he comes up and gives kisses to get out of trouble. LOL
– i love the way twix will panic when i pick her up but when i put her down she begs for pets
– i love the way twix will lie on a chair beside be for hours
– i love the appreciation i get when i bathe them, clean cages, and give then food and new toys
– i love the way hershey puts her paws on the bars and looks at me like im her faorite thing in the world when i walk up to her cage
– i love the way the bond between me and hershey strengthed hugely after she jumped into my arms at the vets
– i love how hershey knows i saved her from dying when she was my sisters pet
When he lets me pet him while flopped out next to me – I can watch TV or a movie and spend quality time with him. Nice way to unwind.
I love watching him figure things out, like how to open the pen door, how to work a treat ball, etc.
I also love that my room smells like hay. Weird? Maybe. It’s just a nice smell to me.
I also love that his cage doesn’t stink like many other pets. Pew, try rat cage smell compared to fixed bunny. Plus with the wood pellets…. even when it’s very very time to clean the litter boxes, I still can’t smell anything icky.
I love when he honks at me to get my attention.
Oh, I also love how Mr. Bun-Bun’s first reaction to everything is to panic… just like his mommy.
lol Maya ^.
Ali925, Blu can move! Like bunny breakdancing. So funny how he spazzes then next second he’s sitting there, all calm, doing normal bunny stuff.. then spazz again. Oreo was cute with her mobile home too. When you said “good girl” Jersey took it as her cue to come and get a treat. *rolleyes*
I must say after reading this thread, that I love being able to chat with others that love their rabbits as much as I love mine. That’s been one of the joys of owning (being owned by) bunnies for me.
I love how if I leave the cubard open they will explore and rip up any paper in there.
I love how if I make them a new toy they will explore it right away.
I love watching them explore.
I love it when I am petting Fern and then try and leave but she charges at me and asks for more.
I love how people are so surprised when I tell them my bunnies are litter trained and that one of them can jump through hoops and over hurdles.
The list goes on… but I have to go to an eye appointment now so I can’t add more at the moment!
Where to start?
I love it when they’re being Investigator Bunny
I love it when they trust me enough to fall asleep on the rug next to me
I also love the sound of them eating, but particularly when the way they have to go and have something if we’re eating
I love making or buying them new things and them enjoying them
I don’t have rabbits that enjoy pets, so I love it when Oxo allows me to give him nose rubs
I love it when they tell me off, which is quite a lot.
I love the strength of their personalities
I love the way that if Bisto get scared by something, he comes to me for protection
I love binkies
Despite currently being without TV, I love their ingenuity and sheer persistence when it comes to getting somewhere they want to be
Oh, and stretches with big bunny yawns! How could I miss that out?
I love that cracks me up everytime to get a peak at those chompers.
Which treat ball do you have ? Our petco does not carry the slim cat someone recommended and when I went to order it online the shipping was more than the ball so I did not get it. I think something like that might get Eyore off his behind, ha ha.
I love that my new bun relies on me for confidence. If I leave the room for even a minute, he runs back home for security.
Oh yeah, I second the bunny stretches and yawns. Why is it so much cuter when a bunny yawns than when any other animal does it? Weird.
I also love what a hog Bun-Bun is. I got him one of those new willow wreaths with the dried leaves still attached to hang in his cage to apologize for taking him to the vet and getting his bits cut off, and he ate 2/3 of the leaves in one night! Then this morning my sister, who’s not used to being around bunnies yet, fed him pellets (which I try to limit) because she said he looked at her like he was “starving.” Can’t believe she fell for that old trick, bunnies are always starving! What a little piggy!
I got some treat balls at Petco or maybe Petsmart – they’re purple and green and say Go Cat Go! on the side. It was a package of two for maybe $1.50. It’s basically a hollow ball with a hole for treats.
Hey Eyorelop, I bought my slim cat treat ball on ebay (for around $6 plus $3 or so shipping). You should just type slim cat ball in the ebay search… there are lots on there.
I saw those but couldn’t tell if hole was big enough for pellets or exact to come out of it. Do you put pellets in it or other stuff?
Funny I just figured eyore’s weakness i shake the craisin bag and he will come a running. I try to get him to come to me w/o forget it, lol.
I put pellets in as well as chunks of dried fruit. The holes are plenty big for both.
And shaking the treat bag is the siren call for bunnies! They can’t resist.
I thought he loved the dried papaya but not over craisins.
The hole in it is adjustable, so you can make it as small or big as you want (up to the maximum). The pellets definitely fit through, in fact, I haven’t really started using it but I’ve noticed it’s a little hard to determine the perfect setting. Either the pellets (due to their elongated shape) have a hard time coming out, or they just pour out… I haven’t played around with it that much though, so maybe it just takes a little time to work out exactly how it should be used… Or maybe it’s just best suited for ’rounder’ shaped treats, so it might work well with craisins lol
The hole on the 2 for $2 or whatever that Petco stocks is not adjustable. I looked at the adjustable one but for much cheaper I went with the others, it is a great size for raisins or pellets. Pellets come out easy though, so I usually stuff a little short stubby bits of hay in too, to make him have to work more to get pellets out.
Great fun!
I love the sound of Gracie grunting when she runs into the living room when I open the cage.
I love watching them eat on the 3rd floor while I’m sitting on the floor looking at their mouths go (and getting green all over them!)
I love when watching them binky and flop over.
I love that even though Gracie came from a bad home, I gave her a new start on life and she’s just as happy as can be….even though she doesn’t want to admit it
I love the looks we get, esp. Gracie with the black fur around her eyes. We’ll start talking about her or something and she gives us this look or she’ll tilt her head to one side like she understands us.
I love the little sigh/squeak Archie makes when he lays down and is relaxed.
There is so much more to the list but we’d be here forever haha! I just love every part of being a bunny slave
All of the above. I liked what Maya Consuela said about gaining the trust of a prey animal. And along those lines, people are always shocked by how much personality a bunny has.
To expand on everything that was said already, I love all these things, and I especially love watching my bunnies interact WITH EACH OTHER. It’s like you have a private view of a beautiful relationship, with little to no verbal communication, but they simply adore each other. They look out for their mate, they share their food and space and toys. They snuggle. They have an entire house to run and play and lounge in, but they CHOOSE to be smushed together. We can all learn a thing or two from that.
