I JUST purchased a sweet 8 week old Lionhead doe. Is it to early to start litter trainning? Also I’m finding that shavings/wood chips just get all caught up in her wool. What other kind of litter is safe to use? Please help!

i split this to a new topic so it is seen by everyone.

welcome here! it is a great idea to start littertraining ASAP, but it’s not uncommon for it to fully “click” with your bunny until they are spayed/neutered. you can start by getting a litterbox, putting appropriate litter in there (pressed paper pellets, carefresh, yesterday’s news), and put some hay in one end. bunnies like to munch and potty at the same time, so this will help. some litters that are dangerous to use are clay/clumping cat litters, pine and cedar shavings, corn cob.  do not have litter or bedding in the rest of the cage or condo, this is too confusing, esp. in the early stages and it’s really not necessary.  a grass mat or towel works much better.

here are some great links about littertraining:

              Hello jjyanew!

I’m not here offering advice but just to ask qu.  I read your post in rescue section and I may be putting 2&2 together and getting 5. I am curious if you got your bunny after your experience with the black  lops you rehomed?

Before I got my rabbit I found a white cashmere lop by the road and took it home.  I put up some “found” posters and 3 days later  the owners came to claim him.  During that 3 days thou I was really fascinated having the bun in my home.  I didn’t think I’d get a bunny myself, or at least for quite some time but 3 months later I suddenly had a little girl bun and she’s ruled my life ever since.

I liken it to being led down the rabbit hole by the White Rabbit from Alice in Wonderland!  A whole new world!  Anyhow, that’s what I’m wondering. Have you been led into this world by 4 black lops??

Oh and welcome here at BinkyBunny!       Oh and details on the lionhead?  Piccys?? Pleease?!

You could skip bedding altogether and see how that goes. My bunny kicks it everywhere anyways, so i don’t use anything!
