        Hello!

New to posting but have been reading up on other forums in past couple of months as my partner and I recently got 2 cute minilop sisters Gnocchi and Cinnamon! They are now a little over 3 months old and we just had little Gnocchi at the vets for the last 10 days – at first they thought it pneumonia but an xray revealed spinal damage (she is doing okay despite this!!). During the 10 or so days Gnocchi was there my partner had to fly interstate and wasn’t able to see her everyday like I had been doing. Following vet instructions I also only brought Cinnamon in once to see Gnocchi around the half way point to see if that would improve her mental health and well being and ensure they hadn’t un-bonded. They got along beautifully – as they always did previous to Gnoc going into the vet. Anyway couple of days ago we brought Gnocchi home (my partner returned home the night before) and has been improving and recovering so well – she really is a strong little bunny to get to where she is now!  We are keeping the girls in separate pens / cages so Gnocchi can regain strength without fear of Cinnamon jumping on her but letting them have short play dates together.

Howwwwever Cinnamon has since started getting jealous (at least I assume that is what’s going on) and has started biting us (not Gnocchi) which she never used to do previously. Not sure if it’s just her age or the fact that my partner was away or Gnocchi coming home or a combination of all of these things. Wondering if anyone has had a jealous biting bunny and if so how you handled them? I’m getting more frustrated with her but don’t want to push her away – she was my beautiful baby and always wanted attention but now can’t stand to be around us for more than a few minutes without biting – she also looks cranky all the time now – not the happy and friendly bunny we had before

Baby bunnies can’t be bonded. All baby bunnies get along with other baby bunnies, but when their hormones start kicking in, any point from 8 weeks – 6 months, they start getting aggressive and territorial as you have seen.

It’s likely that her hormones are kicking in, and that’s why shes started being aggressive with you. It might just be with you now, but it is very likely that she’ll start fighting with her sister too. Once you have her spayed, she’ll most likely go back to a calmer personality.

It’s good that you have them in separate pens, and they need to be kept totally separate, with no playtime, until they’ve both been spayed and then bonded.
