› Forum › THE LOUNGE › Jazz is settling in well! We had a photoshoot…20 pics!
Jazz has settled in wonderfully. Bet he’s counting his lucky stars that he was chosen to come to me and not some kid on Easter morning *rolls eyes*.
Strangely, he doesn’t use his water bottle, but rather chooses the bowl of water in his cage. Oh well…He’s the only one out of the whole lot of 5 who chooses a bowl over bottle, but that’s ok. So, we came home Saturday, and he was quite stressed out (check out the other thread) but yesterday and today, he’s settling marvelously! He’s flopping, exploring, eating like a ham, binkying…such a cutie.
So, without further ado, here are some “relaxing” pics and then the photoshoot.
And now the photoshoot…
I got some really cute pics out of it!
( a wee bit leery of the scary sofa)
(Alllo down there!)
A nice shot of his back markings.
Oh. Hello!
I sit purdy!
I am innocent, I swears!
Awwwwwwww….
awww, jazz is sooo cute & fuzzy! he looks verrry soft
Aww so cute!! A rival for my Big Jessie!!
i love him
i love him
I LOVE HIM!!!
i love mini rexes, i’m a bit biased tho. he looks so soft. i just wanna rub my face on him.
He is *so* cute. o___o He looks part rexie– do you know if he is? How old is he?
*steals him*
wow, Jazz has just beautiful markings! They’re such lovely colors, he’s very handsome!
Have you considered getting him a litterbox?
I just edited my post, since I didn’t even realize it was you who posted, and surely you already know about litter training!
He’s a Mini-Rex, 8 weeks and 1 day old today
His mum is pedigreed but his dad wasn’t…
Thankies guys
Gravehearted – keep in mind I have 4 other rabbits other than Jazz, all litter box trained.
Jazzy hasn’t got one yet because he’s lived his earlier weeks on wire bottom, so I’ve got the litterpan in his cage right now, but it’s going to take him a while before he figures out where to go. I’m hoping to pinpoint the corner he uses, but so far poop is everywhere because = of course = in a wire cage, poop disappears! He needs to figure out it doesn’t disappear anymore
But he will be littertrained, and stay that way I hope!
He is sooooo purdy!
Of course I LOVE mini rexes, and I know how soft he is. Sigh.
Lion Lop, I thought you only had one. 4? (Now 5) and 2 horses? Did you mention a dog once?
I’m losing track. What’s the pet headcount in your menagerie?
oh gee I love that bottom pic and that one sitting he looks like a vanilla and sprinkled easter bunny that pose.
Hey,
heh…my pet count…
is…
5 rabbits: Yuuki (male Lionhead), Kibou (female Lionhead), Smile (Female Holland Lop), Rye (Male Holland Lop), and Jazz (Male Mini Rex)
3 guinea pigs: Samantha (female), Wyley (male), and Stuart (male)
1 crazy hedgehog: Mrs. Robinson (female)
1 horse: Kayo (male)
1 pony: Misty (female)
and approx. 70 fish in assorted 20 gallons, 10 gallons and a 32 gallon tank!
No doggie yet; that would be for when I move into my hopefully summer house
Back at my parents, we have 1 dog and 4 cats!
Wow! That’s amazing!
Maybe you could buy a zoo with a live-in cottage instead of a house. (You know I’m just teasing you.)
I am having serious pet cravings this week.
He’s a Mini-Rex, 8 weeks and 1 day old today
His mum is pedigreed but his dad wasn’t…
Heh, mom was slumming!
Extremely gorgeous.
Maybe I could just borrow him….for a couple of years.
I particularly like the 3rd pix in his cage, the one of his back markings and the sitting one.
Gravehearted – keep in mind I have 4 other rabbits other than Jazz, all litter box trained.
ya – when I first responded to the post I just assumed it was a new member and then I realized it was you, so edited my post – since you’re a litterboxing expert by now! sorry about that.
No worries <3
He looks like someone spilled caramel and chocolate sauce on him
A hedgehog! You are lucky! I wanted one of those, but they’re illegal here
Illegal in California? Wowwww…
Mrs Robinson isn’t great. I used to have 2 hedgies (in sep. cages), but Butters passed way a month ago or so.
Mrs Robinson, however, I’m really just taking care of her for a friend…not sure when she’s ‘going’ back but…
Mrs Robinson spent the first 9 months of her life at a local chain pet store in absolutely horrifying conditions, lost 3 litters of babies and is an albino so she never sold. Finally my friend bargained with the store and got her for a sale price, but she’s never been handled and had such a bad experience she really is quite wild.
Anyway, she’s not handleable, I just feed, clean and water her and she lives her own life. It’s less stressful on her not to bug her. Poor dear.
Awww! What a sweetie! ^^ Jazz is the perfect name, with all those serious scat notes running down his back!
I wonder do just the rexes have those unique colorings? He sure has a beautiful coat!
And he just looks so precious! *scoops him up and cuddles him* And he’s come into your life at the perfect time. Adds a smile to your day, yes?
He does add a smile to my day, for sure All my buns do
But he is so young and has this little pot belly when he stands on his hind legs…it’s just so cute. Like a little person! hehe…
The majority of mini rexes I’ve seen are solid colours; but Pam had Spockie and he was quite unique coloured…
I’m not sure!
Here is a pic of what your new bun will look like grown! Hooper was found outside, someone let him go and was found luckily by a member of the local HRS. He was found under a car w/ oil on him. He has such a sweet disposition. He is my husbands bun. Follows him everywhere. Just too cute!
We have a hedgehog as well named Snuggles. There are several states that hedgehogs are illegal and in most places you cannot travel w/ them w/out “paperwork.” They are just so exotic that they dont like them traveling into many states. We are kinda landlocked by those kinda states so we cant really take her anywhere.
Hooper really wants to be Snuggles friend but she just wont have it!

Oh how cool having a pet hedgehog … We don’t get heggies in Australia, only echidnas (they kinda look like a heggy) and we can’t keep them. Echidnas are mammals and only one of two mammals that lay eggs (the other being the playtpus). They live in the bushland. A baby echidna is called a puggle and about the size of a jellybean.
Sorry got off the track there a bit … carried away with my nature speel!
Mmm can you littertrain a heggie … or am a daft sod!
Dawn xx
Jazz is absolutely gorgeous! And…ohhhhhh…..look at that little hedgehog. So cute. I too was interested in a hedgehogs many years ago until I too found out they were illegal here in California.
Aww, thanks for posting that pic Hedi!! How cute!
I’ve heard you can littertrain hedgehogs, but…I didn’t have Butters long enough to try that, and Mrs Robinson is kind of…crazy..so.. lol…
That hedgehog is so cute!
Yes, Lion Lop, I’m thinking that the markings are unique to mini rexes. It’s also something about their head and body shape Check out Jazz’ tail. I think it will be as big as Spockie’s! Their markings are so similar that they could have been relatives. I was really amazed when you first posted the pix.
Hmm. The way bunnies reproduce, it’s actually possible they have a common great, great, great grandparent somewhere. I got Spockie in Massachusetts, not too far from the Canadian border.
I hope Jazz has a similar personality. You will have the sweetest, most loving little guy ever. (By the way, is Jazz sociable? Spockie just loved people. He once came out of a room to join a party in the rest of my apartment. He showed off for my guests in the living room, then sniffed each of their feet before settling under a chair for the rest of the evening.)
I think he’s going to have a long tail too Pam! Hehehe…
I was thinking about that when I had him out!
I don’t think I’ve quite seen Jazz’s personality to its full extent yet… he’s still a little skittish and settling in, but he’s showing more interest towards me when I walk around the cage (as opposed to Saturday when he just cowered everywhere). If his cute little flops and the way he drinks water are any indication, he’s going to be terrific I’m excited
I bet you he and Spockie are distantly related! I can go back on his mum’s side about 4 generations, but his pop didn’t have a pedigree!
lolz rabbitpam, my folks and their close relatives used to have fancy dinner parties when I was a kid and they were always an absolute cluster of people and loud conversation. Spockie must’ve been one amazing bun to handle a situation like that so well! I am just picturing it and it is such a cute and homey scene, it sounds marvelous! Wish my buns were that well socialized!
A bunny with a pedigree. Now that’s something I never thought I’d hear…but I guess all those ‘show bunnies’ must have them. lolz…personally, I’m pretty partial to my Heinz 57 buns, meself! ^^ Never have to worry about keeping their coats ‘just so’ or not letting them sun themselves so that they get freckles. ^^ (Certain kinds of cats, like the Siamese, you have to be so careful with their fur so that it stays a certain color if you’re going to show them.)
I only recently noticed how long Pip’s tail is…it’s actually quite good sized. I think that’s how you tell a VERY relaxed bun, the tail is completely stretched out and the whole bunny seems to relax at that point. Mimzy still keeps his tightly tucked to his body, granted it’s a tiny one, but,…so I guess he’s not as comfy here as I wish he was.
My 2 Lionheads and 2 Holland Lops are both pedigreed 4 + generations back … not that it really matters I guess, since I won’t be showing them!
The mgr at the local HRS where I got Hooper told me his coloring is very rare but I dont remember what she said it is called. It is just amazing that their coloring/markings are identical.
What a cutie little Jazz is! He looks like such a friendly and curious little bunny. He’ll definitely come out of his shell soon in such a good home
Rexes are quite common around here (MA) and I’ve noticed that they do tend to have very interesting coat patterns. I’ve seen a couple like Jazz and Hopper, and Humphrey actually looks like he could be Hopper’s twin minus the black sports. Monty’s a rex (possibly + something else– he’s more silky than plush) and he looks like a spice rack. <__<
omg i love the last pic on your original post its sooo cutie he is absolutely gorgeous! and you can keep hedgehods as pets? dont they.. well hurt? lol
Yeah, hedgies hurt like the dickens some times. But when they flatten their quills it’s not so bad…but when they stick them up – YEOW!
Ahhh such great pictures! The hedgehog is a riot!
MimzMum,
I think you’re misinterpreting a tucked in tail. Or, just because it is tucked in it does NOT mean he’s not comfy with you.
The long tail is almost like radar. It just wiggles around when they’re expressing something. Most of the time it is up flat against the bunny butt.
Would Jazz be called a tri-color?
Here’s to you, Mrs. Robinson!
That other hedgehog pic is so cute…they have such funny little faces.
A bit about being social…I learned the other day that Piccolino is very social. I usually only have one or two people at a time over, but the other night 5 friends (plus one of their small dogs) came over and he just went about his business hopping around munching his veggies, chilling on his cookie sheet, and taking to time to “stop and smell the people” He wanted to play with the chihuahua, but she was kind of scared of him
Pam, yeah – I think he’s called TriColour; that’s what the breeder advertised him as
I had him out this morning for 1/2 hour to explore and we got some little binkes…lol…I took him out to cuddle later in the afternoon as well, and gave everyone pieces of cardboard to play with for the evening while I was grocery shopping.
