what-a-girl!  i put baby in her living room enclosure after she had an hour of morning romp.  i was letting her have free roam all day prior to pinky’s arrival but since then her potty habits have deteriorated & so  while i work i chose to elminate my need to follow her with a towel & spray cleaner for her pee spots.  also to re-inforce where her pee spots are supposed to be.  i like having her in the living room enclosure during the day because thats where i work & then we can see / talk to eachother.  i guess i didn’t give her enough time to much her pellets & greens this morning because when i was in thekitchen getting some water i heard a big *plunk* and came into the living room to find her on the floor!  she then proceeded to hippity hop straight back to her bedroom, upto her pellets & started munching.  both her enclosure access doors were still locked tight so she had to have jumped through the roof!  drat!  time to add those last 2 squares to close it up.  7 yrs old & she continues to surprise me with her behaviour!

Maryann has used her food dish as a wedge to spread the cage walls far enough apart to squeeze through them. The resulting ‘ping’ I heard was the cage walls slamming back together, which in turn shot the food dish back inside a couple of inches so there was no evidence of her breakout.

Drat, I have a bunny that uses TOOLS! I hate evolution.

markus that’s hilarious.  i’ll bet that took some figuring to discover!  lol.  make sure you do not leave your tool box unattended with maryann loose.  she’ll drag out a set of pliers & tuck it away in a tube to use the next time you don’t give her enough treats!  what a cheeky gal she is.  lol.

your story reminds me of my friend’s standard poodle who would always houdini out of his pen.  he got so good at it dispite the 4 pad locks they put on the door, that by the time my friend would lock the garage door & walk around her car to get in, she could here he was already out.  turns out, the pen had a door on each end & the dog could lift the back latch up with his nose, and simultaneously wedge a part of himself inbetween the door & the pen.  since this back door was only inches from a wall he’d have to wiggle enough that the whole pen shifted away from the wall until there was enough room for him to squeeze out!  lol.

i guess since they don’t have to buy groceries, pay bills or fix dinner they have a little extra time on their ‘paws’ to figure escape routes out.

I found out because I came in just as she was halfway out of the pen. I got to see the food bowl shoot back into the area as she scrambled out and it all made sense.

Oh our bunnies really crack me up! Devious creatures. I think they also corroborate with each other and log onto BB and chat to spread the word.

As for conspiring goes, I am 100% in agreement with this. When I first started to take Maryann on dates at the HRS, it seemed like any new boy we introduced to her was immediately frightened. All I could think was the first rounders got back and began to whisper to one another, “You should have seen the BEOTCH we were just with. Her name’s Maryann and she….”

I’m pretty sure the other bunnies at the shelter talked about Pepper after date-nights too!
