Once and for all – I officially say NO MORE NIC CUBES FOR ME OR THE BUNS!!!! Good lord, those things have been so much trouble than they were worth. I don’t know how people actually get them to stay together for longer than 5 days, maybe I just have very rowdy buns(lol well I can’t deny that, actually! They’re hard on their houses!!), but mine literally have never lasted that long. Inevitably they are always falling apart(and yes, I did the zip-tie thing as well..amazing, I think my bunnies are just houdinis) and the buns much enjoy escaping at night when their momma’s asleep.

SO! I have 2 very, very nice x-pens coming ANY day!! We’re all very excited waiting for their new homes to arrive…..time to live like the queen and kind they are without worrying about their houses collapsing, lol. They’re the gold 4′ x 4′ pens, with a door. Got them for $60 each with free shipping, so I think I lucked out on that. Woohoo the buns(and I..okay, just me!…) wonder every morning if the mansions are arriving today. They should come hopefully tomorrow(well, I guess today) or Saturday.
Already have a trip to Midland planned for next week to go and buy them brand new toys(and flooring). It was Duncan’s 2nd birthday on the 28th, and since they’ve both behaved and gone through a lot the past month – we all deserve a little good change and happiness, I think.

I hope everyone and their buns are doing very well

Oh No, my heart is broken! I just bought four packs for the very 1st time. Perhaps i’m still in NIC honeymoon phase.

But hold onto those grids because they might make a good top to the pens if Demi continues to climb.

Please post pics once you have your new pens set up.

My NIC condo has held up quite well. Built it in december, haven’t had to change a thing

Lol Jerseygirl, no worries!! You might have more luck than I have! 90% of the people I’ve seen who’ve used them haven’t had many problems..I really think my buns just tend to be harder on their houses(chewing bars, shoving them,etc.). Maybe because they’re young, and always seem to love the idea of sneaking out when they aren’t supposed to…..typical teenagers, hah
And good point on the top if Demi keeps climbing! My little ape-child. I’m figuring she’ll decide at some point to either climb or jump out of the xpen, so yeah..she’ll probably end up needing a top!

I found my first one started to droop and kind of was unstable but then I crossed the ziptyes in a x type thing and that works like a charm. My buns arn’t what you call gentile on their houses. You should see their maze Haven – it is falling apart. Thistle also likes to shake the bars when he is locked in while Fern is doing tricks. But the condo I have now doesn’t seem to be ready to fall over at all. It is just as stable as any store bought cage and it is 4 grids high.

If you are up to it I would recommend trying again with crossing the ziptyes. That might work. Then again I do like x-pens as well. I have an x-pen and a condo attached. But I just love seeing my bunnies climb the stories of the condo.

You will love the x-pens – the are so easy to manage and you won’t have that problem at all.

I used the connectors plus wire to keep my condo together. Zipties alone would not keep my rabbits contained either.

I’d give the NIC condos another try(although, I did the zip ties crossed like that, with the connectors on as well) but since the x-pens are already on their way….figure I might as well just wait for those, lol

Some people love them… for me… ehhh. I love them for bunny-proofing, but the pens are the way to go in my opinion. You could always try and build a shelf like I did for some vertical height in the pen.

I had good luck with mine, it’s held up great. The shelves are held up with wooden dowels, with plywood on top of the shelves. My bun is a houdini too, but then again he’s a baby. He fits through the 1 inch squares, so I wrapped it in chicken wire and cut out a hole for the door. The chicken wire reinforced it and now silly bun can’t escape through the holes.

I gave up on mine, great for a temp home but Rufus is just to hard on them and so where the other guys, that and found it hard to clean between the cubes when someone peed out of the litter box!

I have had very good luck with mine. My fiance built it last May and it’s still together. Of course he made it all fancy and it’s on wheels. Nothing has fallen apart yet *knock on wood* hehe
