I have decided what I should do about my bunnies taking up my living room, not having a bg enough space to play, and my toddlers bothering them in thier pens. They are now free roam (most of the time). Yay! I put Bella in my 5 year olds room. Bella will have the run of the room when we are not home and when my daughter is not in there. Most of the time, my daughter is playing with her little sisters in thier room. Bella’s smaller cage is in there with her litter box, water bottle and food is. The rest of the room is for her to play in. My 5 year old doesn’t bother Bella at all. She sits on the floor and watches her and when Bella comes to her she pets her. The reaction Bella had when I let her free in there was priceless! Binkies everywhere! She is soooo happy!  The windows aren’t that high up so I put some NiC Panels up so the windows can be open but the bunny cannot escape. She did go under my daughters bed and try to chew on the carpet and wood under there so I put her rugs under there and covered up the wood. My daughters room has a lot of cube shelving along her walls so I don’t see this to be too big a problem. As for the carpet, I could cover it with area rugs. As for Baxter, my husband suggested we let him free roam our bedroom! I know, I didn’t like the idea of a bunny in our room but I think we can try it. We also have gates up in the doorways just in case someone accidentally leaves a door open. The doors still close with them on there. We want our bunnies to be free roam but not territorial of a room. When they are altered and bonded, they will be free roam in the living room and kitchen! I know this will be trial and error but we will get it right.

And yes, this means I’m not making them a cage.

Wow, what a solution. Let us know how it goes. The thing I would be concerned with is your daughter accidentally stepping on the rabbit.

Yay, good for you. Free roaming bunnies are lots of fun – you never know exactly where they are and what they are up to. You sit down to relax and unwind and suddenly out of nowhere they are all over you, or you walk to the bathroom only to find that the hallway is being used as a racing area…oh, well, and then the noises sometimes coming from another room giving you a clear indication that somebunny is chewing something they shouldn’t

I would be slightly concerned with an intact bunny in the bedroom, but that is only based on my own experience and may not cause problems in your case.

Also, do make sure that they have something of theirs, now that they won’t have a cage, eg. Maze Haven or something else they can use as a private retreat. Also, if they need a timeout from your children. I found that mine needed a cage. When I took it away from them, they would mark everywhere, but as soon as it was back, they were back to good old litter habits.

Do you know for a fact that they are not able to get to each other? Especially with one being in your daughter’s room where the door might be left open by accident. I’d be concerned b/c it only takes a split second of “being together” for a pregnancy to happen.

We have a gate on the door. The door is always left open. It will close with the gate on it though. Bella goes under her bed to be alone. She has all of her toys in there and her cage has her litterbox, food, hay and water. My daughter can’t step on her because when my daughter wants to play in her room, we put the xpen around Bella and her cage still leaving her room to run and play. When we are not at home or my daughter isn’t in her room, Bella is free to roam! That is about 90% of the time because my daughter is hardly ever in her room. She likes to play in her little sister room. It is bigger and has more toys. As for Baxter, he has a nice space in my bedroom. He is not 100% free roam as he is dropping his scent everywhere and getting more destructive. We have his big hidey hut and his xpen is opened up and attached to the walls. He has quite a bit of space. He can’t get out either. So far, it’s worked out great!
