It’s done it’s over with

 Ruby girls spay was done this morning.  She was really groggy.  I asked about pain meds and antibiotics but said no she got a shot of painkiller and some fluids.  I was worried for a bit there. I was asked to wait another hour for her to come around more.   I had turned on the fan I was hot.  When Ruby zonked out again I got scared and for some reason I felt her ears.  They were cold. So I turned off the fan and the staff brought a blanket to cover her carrier with. Her ears warmed up some.  They are fine now.

We are home and Ruby is resting in her fav spot. The cardboard box. I have a towel over it to keep her warm. I left the opening uncovered.  She was in her carrier and didn’t come out.  So I turned her around.  Guess she didnt’ know the door was open. Hehee. That was funny it was open but she wasn’t facing it. She was facing the wrong way.  Yes she turned herself completely around on the way home. 

Once I turned her around she came out and found her spot in the cardboard box.  Cotton has groomed her a couple of times. Awe sweet Cotton.  He came with us. Yes I brought him in the plastic carrier with Ruby in it.  I brought an extra carrier the nice cloth one that looks almost like a gym bag. It is really neat.  The staff asked for the soft carrier to put her in. 

I opened their doors so they could see each other.  Cotton groomed her a little bit then proceeded to chin everything.

Ruby is sleeping it off. I put her litterbox by the big one so when she has to go she doesnt’ have to jump to clear it.  I am glad Cotton is ok with her smelling different. Yeah thats why I took him to lesson the chance of him nipping and chasing her.

Oh I told them about hubby and the Vet asked me when he will be back to know what type of stitches to put.  So she put them inside and I guess used the glue on the outside so hubby wouldn’t notice hopefully.

A suggestion was made that if he noticed the hair missing tell him she got a big mat and it had to be shaved off.  Hmm good idea.

The taxi driver the nice respectable well mannered one got a 9.00 tip too. He was very decent. I think he was in his late 20’s or 30’s.  I was very pleased.  He even carried Cotton upstairs for me to not make 2 trips.

Hubby got up at 4 I set the alarm He left at 5:00  a.m.  and I tried to go back to sleep but couldn’t so I just got up and prepared.

I am groggy too maybe I will join Ruby in a nice nap. Still early enuf.

I’m glad she is coming around. You generally shouldn’t need any antibiotics. I do wish the vets would give metacam though for pain – even though they get a powerful pain shot that is eventually going to wear off and she may need some metacam to help keep her comfortable and just keep the “edge” off while she’s recovering.

I like it when the vet does the invisible type stitches (glue) where you don’t have to take them back to have the staples removed too – that’s so much easier. Some vets don’t feel comfortable doing this though so you are lucky this vet did.

Thanks  yes I really like this vet.  The staff are real nice too.  The vet came out 3x to check on Ruby too. Yeah you know it’s gotta hurt for a few days.

Phew now the worry is over.  I was so scared she would not wake up and die on the table.  Oh the horror our minds can come up with.  We are like fussy mom’s here.   Well the pets are like family. They are part of our family and I know we would worry if our loved ones were having a surgery. 

Your buns surgery is coming up is it Friday tomorrow or on the 18th? I remember reading 2 post stating these things. I get confused and don’t get details and names to match sometimes

Hope Ruby is feeling better. If she seems really uncomfortable I’d just demand a shot. I did that with Layla cause Layla took her spay really badly (prob because we couldn’t stop her from binkying when she got home!) and she felt better immediately after the shot.

Ruby is awake and alert right now. Cotton has been stopping by to groom her when he isn’t upsetting himself cause Honey bun is in the kitchen that is.

She peed 3x   twice in the cardboard box she took shelter in. Then a little bit ago I saw her go to her litterbox and she went but it was over the edge into her waterbowl.   So I got them some fresh water.

She hasnt’ eaten yet though.  put a banana by her a piece of one but I think she was too out of it to want it. Cotton ate it the little pig. I put her food dish where she can get to it.  Instead of having her jump into cotton’s house and hurting herself.

Unfortunately she did jump in there and jumped up on that shelf. I took her out right away. She has stayed on the cool tile floor since then.

In a little bit I will make my fruit drink and give her some berries to try to get her to eat.  OH yes those Papaya Yes she loves those. Yeah I will start with that.

Sounds like you are giving her excellent care.  Anesthesia can interfere with the bodies natural ability to regulate temperature-  but you are obviously monitoring her carefully and keeping her comfortable!  Keep up the good work!  I guess you are a bunny slave and a bunny NURSE.

It will be a huge relief for you when she’s recovered and back to normal. Despite the unpleasantness this is the best thing for her in the long run
