You had stated you put the baytril in applesauce.  I tried it with pear and it works. Thank you soooo much for that suggestion. Saves bun trauma. stress and us too.

Glad it helped.  Pepper has been on meds again for almost 2 weeks and clearly is ecstatic that applesauce has returned to her world!

I do wonder though if they are getting the full dosage of medication if you do this. Are you just putting the baytril on a limited amount of the applesauce – is the bunny eating all the applesauce. I know it’s much less stressful but that would be a thing to concern yourself with.

When Little-Bit had her ear infection, that’s what I did. I crushed up the tablet and mixed it into about a teaspoonful of 100% natural (non-sweetened) applesauce. She loved it -licked it dry. And it worked! But yeah, only use a VERY small amount of applesauce or baby food or whatever it is you decide to use -this way, the bun is more likely to lap up the whole thing and not miss any of the crushed up medicine.

yes true a little bit mixed well with the baytril. I notice bun won’t eat it if not enuf pear in it. So hubby added a tiny bit more and down it went. I have small bowls like you get the condiments in at restaurants.  Mix it in there and fed directly. and the litle bity bowl isn’t even half full. I have to give it now too is time for it. At least we dont’ dread medicine now.

I take about 1/2 to 1 tsp of applesauce (depending on the amount of liquid medicine that needs to be mixed in) and bloop it on a plate.  Then I measure the medication with a syringe, squeeze it into the blop and smoosh it around so it’s all mixed.  Pepper then licks the plate clean!
