Well I’m very chuffed I must say.  I bought a bag of woody pet litter (pine pellets) in 1st week of January and I’ve only just used the last of it yesterday.  So a 30lb bag (13kg) has last me 6 months and then some.  Just using that type alone saves $$ so using less of it doesn’t make a huge difference cost wise.  I just like to use less plus I’m not forever having to pick up new bags.

I’ve mentioned before I use grated litter boxes -much experimenting and many versions…  By the time I’ve bought various types of grates, it’s probably outweighed any saving I’ve made by using wood pellets!  There seems to be more of this sort of litter box around now -though not when I was 1st looking into them.  I saw these the other day for anyone who’s interested… bunnyrabbit.com/price/groom3.htm (bottom of page)

That’s pretty amazing that it lasted you this long especially with 2 rabbits. Maybe it’s because you only need a thin layer with the grate.

Drat  and I just bought my buns new litterboxes.    I will measure them and see if I can buy the grate seperate.

WOW! That’s amazing! I definitely go thru more than that! I only put a thin layer of pellets down (maybe about 2 cups per litterbox) over several sheets of newspaper, and I have been able to get a lot of use out of mine.

Jersey, I don’t know pine pellets. What kind of litter is it?

I checked out these grated litter pans. Still too small for mine but for 1 bunny a good idea.

lol – “Chuffed” = happy, pleased etc.
Petzy I am using woody pet currently (www.woodypet.com)
There are many things you can use for a grate – believe me! I use a cutlery tray upside down. It raises the grate an inch or so, then I just put pellets under it in the back section.

Neat! They’re in Canada, too. Right now, I am using Stall Dry under my grate, just in the corners. It allows no smell to exist.

http://www.absorbentproductsltd.com/stalldry_canada.htm   — but woodypet seems to carry something similar.

This wouldn’t be a safe choice for regular litter boxes, though, where a rabbit has access to the litter. My tray is way  underneath the grate, no way my rabs can get to it. But I like the woody pellets. Gotta find out if I can order it. Probably stove pellets are still cheapest. ..
