just wondering if anyone’s bunny is as picky as mine

Donut doesn’t like hay that’s flat, or 3-4 days old. he also doesn’t like it when i mix fresh hay and “old” hay cause he’ll jsut eat the fresh hay and leave the “old” ones out. recently i’ve never seen him eat as much hay, so today i just emptied his hay-tray and put in fresh hay. he’s been eating for 20minutes- and still eating!

        how about yours?

My bunnies are not very picky about their hay, although I know lots of people that have bunnies that are. Mine just like the hay to be new to their litterbox. We buy hay by the bales, so its usually in the garage in a rubbermaid bin for a few weeks, so they don’t seem to mind that its been in the garage for awhile, but they do like it to be new to THEM in their litterbox. One of my bunnies, Amelia, will eat just about anything that is offered to her by hand, because she thinks it is a treat and bites it before finding out what it is. She accidentally got a bite of a Chips Ahoy cookie because of that….we stopped holding food anywhere near her cage since that incident

Monkey is rather picky as well. HATES alfalfa hay, doesn’t like the thicker pieces of timothy, picks out the greenest bits of lettuce first, and leaves the rest for an hour or so until she decides she’d better eat it before it gets taken away. Will only use her bowl of water if she has access to the pen, won’t go to her bottle unless she’s shut in the cage. She’s a diva thats for sure.

You might try refreshing the hay with a small handful (and mixing it together) more frequently, like maybe twice a day. Anytime my buns see me swishing around their hay, they come over to investigate and they end up eating more.

My bunnies are not picky about their hay, they both love the timothy. However, they are both very picky about veggies! Neither one likes carrots in the slightest, and I haven’t tested as many with no-name yet because I’m trying to do slow intro but Chubs also doesn’t like spinach, brocoli, asparagus, strawberry tops, cucumber or mint. He is a very picky little bun! He loves loves loves craisins though! Hehe.

Ruby isn’t as picky as Cotton but neither one will eat timmy hay they absolutely refuse. Cotton will eat paper b4 he will eat timmy hay. Cotton doens’t lik  ehis new zupreem pellets either.  I will go back to the other ones next week.  He should be very happy about that.

He eats mint  or parsley for 3 days and after that he doesn’t want no more of it.

However Cotton wants berries and only berries for his go to bed snack.  Ruby only takes food from my hand when she is in the bathroom.   Weird huh?

Cotton he likes me to put it down so he can sniff it push it around then take it and run off to eat it.
