I noticed Herabunny is doing something different the last few weeks – after she’s been laying down for a long time, in “bun loaf” position, when she gets up, she’ll often walk the back legs while hopping with the front legs.  She does this for maybe 4-5 feet, then hops as normal.

Is this stretching?  Is she stiff from laying down for a long time?  The weather has turned cold and rainy the last few weeks, I wonder if that has something to do with it?

If it helps, Hera is a 4 year old lionhead female.  She acts 100% normal otherwise – in fact she had a pee fest on my bed just a few days ago!

Unless you notice this happening at other times, if it is only after she’s been sitting or loafing for a bit, then it is probably normal stretching behavior. Most rabbits will do a big stretch after loafing since their legs have been tucked up under them for a while. Olaf always does a big stretch – tippy-toeing his front legs out and letting his back legs arch – after he’s been sitting for too long. Sometimes it comes with a big lion roar yawn. I wouldn’t be worried unless she’s walking funny all the time. They’re so lazy it’s adorable.

Don’t worry, it’s just your bunny stretching after a little nap She/He might yawn as well. It’s the cutest thing and I love to watch!

My bunnies do this. Peanut more so than Buttercup. I’ve always wondered why but I haven’t noticed anything else alarming so I assumed it was just a quirk of his.
