Acorn likes to clean up after the birds, especially the cockatoos when they throw their food out of the bowls. He doesn’t eat too much of it and I haven’t really worried about it too much but I wanted to check with you guys.

        Here are the ingredients

Ground corn, Soybean meal, Ground wheat,Vegetable oil,Wheat germ meal, Sucrose, Dicalcium phosphate, Calcium carbonate, Ground vegetables (carrots, celery, beets, watercress and spinach), Iodized salt, DL-methionine, Choline chloride, Ascorbic acid (source of Vitamin C), Natural mixed tocopherols, Rosemary extract, Citric acid, Manganous oxide, Zinc oxide, Copper sulfate, Calcium iodate, Sodium selenite,Vitamin A supplement,Vitamin D Vitamin K supplement, Niacin, Calcium pantothenate, Pyridoxine hydrochloride,Thiamine, Riboflavin, Folic acid, Biotin,Vitamin B12 supplement.

Should I be worried about any of that since he is really only consuming a very small amount of it?

Well, it’s probably not the best thing for him but I would try to ensure he consumes as little as possible. My rabbit Pepe who is out and about nibbles on Mozart’s stuff – I do try to deter this though.

I clean the floors in the bird room and the pans under their cages everyday when I get home and again before I go to bed so really the only time he has a chance to get to any is when I’m gone during the day. The birds really don’t throw that much of their food so I’d say if anything, he probably gets about one or two pellets a day from them.

I could shut him out of the room when I’m gone but the sunroom is his favorite room in the house so in a lot of ways I would hate doing that to him.

Between the ground corn and sucrose, as long as he is only getting a very small amount….but is there there anyway to put some sort of plastic guard or ?? around the cage to prevent it from fall out?

It actually doesn’t fall out of the cages… He jumps up into the cage pans. I might be able to figure out a way to use some of my extra NIC cubes to create a gaurd around that part of the cage to keep him out of there.
