So I was with Tei and grabbed a carrot I usually let her only take one bite of as a treat sometimes and I put ontop of a chair getting ready to let her have a bite till I had to go out for a couple minutes and accidentally turned into a couple hours but when I got back she had the carrot with her and quite a bit of it had been eaten I need to know if this was bad and how bad

Yes it’s bad in terms of that’s a lot of sugar for her to eat, but it’s most likely not going to harm her in any way, unless you do this again for a week straight. Just lessen up on carrot treats for the next few days and make sure she is eating and poop okay.

I’d also be really careful with carrots as she’s not yet really at the age where sugary veg is easily tolerated. Sugary veg and fruit should be slowly introduced at 6 months and leafy greens at 12 weeks

She’ll be fine. But do watch out for some mushy poop. All that carrot could upset her stomach. Long term though, her eating one carrot in a single sitting isn’t going to harm her. Just don’t let it happen again.

I have a very similar problem. I had to go away for a work conference at the beginning of the week and got back last night. My girl had been ill with some gas over the weekend and I was very nervous about leaving her – but she seemed okay while I was away.

I had a friend staying with the bunnies while away and I had given instructions saying no root vegetables, only green leaves and herbs while I am away and their hard food and hay obviously.

However,my friend decided to give them an ENTIRE big carrot before I got in – they never get that much and right after a stomach upset. I am quite nervous. My girl seems to be drinking a lot now, I’ve seen her take three big long drinks this afternoon which is uncharacteristic of her. Does anyone know if this is a sign that something is wrong?

No, it’s not a sign that sth is wrong, Arlo, not unless it goes on for like weeks. If that happens, something can be wrong. I think she could be thirsty from having all that carrot. It’s good that she drinks, try to get her to eat some hay too. She may get a bit of a tummy upset, for example produce more cecals than she needs to eat. If you suspect she’s getting gas pain, you can give 0.5 -1 ml simethicone baby gas drops.

                  Keep us posted!
