I’m kind of confused about buying litter for my bunny. She’s little, but I’d like to try another kind of pellet that has more odor control and is a bit cheaper.

Right now, I’m using carefresh which I love, but it’s starting to really add up since I change the litter every day. What brand do you use and if you’re in CA, can you please recommend a store that I can contact? I’ve already tried An Jan, petco, and Petsmart. I’d love any pictures too of what these wood stove pellets look like. I’m getting them confused with the newspaper ones.

        Thanks!

The wood stove pellets look a lot like the newspaper ones. Mine are tan in colour, the newspaper ones are more of a dark grey.

Pretty fuzzy picture, sorry. *note to self – change camera batteries*

I live in the Bay Area and WSP’s are hard to find during the summer months. You should be able to find them in Home Depot, Lowes or any Ace Hardware. I found out that you can buy them in any Ace Hardware during summer months. You can buy a 40lb bag for about $5.00 at Home Depot. Since I have a Home Depot near my home, I plan on buying bags and bags so I am stocked up for the summer. They are economical and safe for bunnies.

I was also interested in the wood stove pellets, is it safe if they eat them? Right now I use Carfresh, and they love to eat it. Does anyone have any personal comparisons of the WSP vs Carefresh?

I looked at home depot online and they only showed one 40 lb bag (I dont know if it is even the right kind), for 279?! Thats nuts!

Mine nibbled on Yesterdays News & Carefresh.
One bunny came with pine shavings so I used the rest of the bag to transition her to Yesterdays News, & she nibbled on the fresh pine shavings.
None of my 4 nibble on the wood stove pellets. They are all perfectly happy using them too.
$6.99 for a 40 pound bag at Rona here in Canada.

MrMac, I went on Home Depot’s website and saw that very same thing! I am sure it’s not the same! I think I’ll go to the store next time and ask around. Thanks everyone!

I forgot to mention that OSH sells WSP’s also.

I don’t know if there’s a Menards in CA, but I get my wood stove pellets for $4-5.

Nevermind… i just went to menards.com, there isn’t one in CA.

Good luck on your search for the wood pellets! I switched over to them from the expensive store litter, not only is it WAY cheaper, but also I can use less since the pellets expand so much when they get wet, and i don’t have to change the litter box as often since odor control is great.
