i was just wondering if my buns diet is ok? i give them a table spoon of pelets and a little over a 1/2 cup of veggies at noon, and i do the same at night.

        here are the veggies.

        lettuce

        little bit of carrots

        broccoli

        parsley

is this anoff food if they have un limited hay?

Pretty good! You could probably give more veggies if you can afford it, but they’re pretty small right? So 1 cup per day is probably a good amount.. And I would remove carrot from their daily veggies and just feed it as a treat. Also, broccoli can cause gas, but if your guys have been getting it for a while and don’t have issues it’s probably nothing to worry about.

i only started a few days ago. when lulu saw the vet before her surgery they said i don’t need more than a table spoon of pellets a day . i will double the veggies then and take out carrots not sure if they get gas or not. one more question should i just take out the pelets?

I wouldn’t remove their pellets. I believe that pellets are important for a balanced diet as they provide vitamins and nutrients. A non-pellet diet can be done, but I think you need to be much more careful about the variety of veggies you feed to make sure your buns are getting what they need. It’s far easier to just feed a small amount of pellets. I, personally, wouldn’t take my bun off of pellets unless it was required for medical reasons (like BB’s Jack) and I had a vet’s support to make up his diet.

I agree with Elrohwen that you can add in more veggies/leafy green. Also, FYI, we’ve had a recent discussion amongst the leaders and other HRS experts and vets that have confirmed that carrots are not as high in sugar as once thought. So you can feed that more than just a treat however, it’s STILL high enough in sugar that you don’t want to make it a main part of their diet so adding it in with other greens is fine.

And since your bunnies are not having any problems with broccoli that is also fine, I just agree though that adding in more (slowly) would be a good choice and keep the small amount of pellets in the diet. Are there any other greens you can offer too (from the diet list?) Cilantro, dill, dandelion greens, mint etc are all great leafy greens that would be good if you can afford it and if your bunnies would eat them.

I was going to mention the carrot good news It’s healthier then used to be thought so those are fine
Mocha-parsley and cilantro are fairly cheap here even when other veggies are pricier-I can buy four bunches of parsley for about 1.40$ which is quite a good amount (one bunch for each pair of bunnies a day as one of their veggies) so that might be something to try
