I got my little bunny (Oreo) about a week ago- Oreo has not been spayed/neutered (will be next week) and is about 4/5 months old so super rambunctious. I have been reading around for awhile, but did not find anything that that really made me feel 100% certain about what is going on so I thought I would take a chance and ask around. Ever since I got Oreo (s)he (no idea gender yet) has been a love and so much fun. Oreo is always running around, binkies, comes up to me and sits in my lap- definitely not a shy bunny. (S)he always tries to get into stuff and climb over the makeshift play area I have constructed (I life in an apartment so when I am home (s)he has supervised free run of the room. I’ve been getting Oreo 4 or more hours of exercise everyday-whenever I am home i try to let him/her out and I keep the cage open so (s)he can go in and out. We are also moving in the fall so it’ll be playpens and free run so (s)he never feels cramped. That being said yesterday I didn’t get home until around 8:30 because of classes, meetings,etc. and let Oreo out but (s)he didn’t get much playtime. Not only that, but (s)he was super aggressive-nothing where I was mad at Oreo-but (s)he was definitely mad at me or at least just frustrated with the whole situation because (s)he was chewing on the cage and throwing a sort of tantrum. Today I woke up and (s)he was just really quiet. (S)he didn’t get up when I came over to feed her/him and I raced home from classes today as soon as I could and have left the cage open all day so (s)he can run around and play like usual, but (s)he has just been overly calm and is not really leaving the cage to explore. Oreo still has been eating, drinking, chewing, going around the room, going in and out of the cage as usual, poop looks normal, etc. ,but should I be worried? Is (s)he showing signs of illness or depression or anything? I was saving up for the operation so once that is done I can get the playpen, because I know the poor bun needs to be able to move more (pretty small now so can move really well around the cage-you could fit like 6 of him/her in there), but if this isn’t normal-what do I do? Did I just ruin my relationship with my bun or will it all be okay?

bunnies are like cats in that they’re super fickle– one day, they want all of the luv; the next, they ignore you. It’s probably just a teen bun being a teen bun.
