I’ve had a hard run getting Boston on veges due to sensitive tummy. Finally have the poopy butt under control after removing oxbow and putting him on burgess instead. He is fine with the odd fruit treat funnily enough ( I know that would usually be the last thing they ok with!) like a grape once every other week or a small slice or carrot or banana once a week , But veges are harder to introduce – so far he can have rocket.
Is rocket ok to give daily? I’m struggling to find info on whether it is a staple ok to feed daily food for bunnies?

And for romaine lettuce is it romaine hearts ( which I struggle to get here ) or this?

In the U.S., rocket is called arugula, and that’s on the list of veggies/greens that are low in oxalic acid, so it should be fine to feed to rabbits daily. In case you are talking about a different veggie, here is a page showing rocket/arugula:
              https://www.ehow.com/info_8427861_rocket-vegetables.html.

The romaine lettuce you have pictured is what is more desirable for rabbits, since it includes all of the leaves. The outer leaves are darker green and likely more nutritious than just the romaine hearts, which are from inside the plant and more yellow in color.

The prairie in me says rocket is one of various wildflowers in the mustard family. LOL Thank you Toby for clarifying. Yes, if it’s arugula (which also happens to be in the mustard family) then it’s safe to feed every day.

Yeah it appears to be that
He’s been eating little bits for awhile and slowly building up and so I thought I better check how often he can eat it.
He moved to half a cup tonight

I think I’ll buy some of the romaine I put pic up of and slowly introduce that the next couple of weeks so that I have romaine and rocket to switch between as his bulk daily greens for now at 1/2cup a night.
Hopefully in another few months I will have him on 1cup a night since he is 3lbs

Rocket was a staple for my two until all of Buttercup’s tummy issues  Oh as for romaine, I learnt from Sirius (I think?) that Cos is the same as romaine, and romaine hearts are the inner Cos leaves. So if you see Cos lettuce, that’s perfectly safe

On a related note, are mustard greens themselves suitable for rabbits? I was considering getting them at Walmart’s produce section the other day while doing the weekly greens shopping for P&F, but wasn’t sure – I almost got them some bok choy which I know is good for them, but Walmart has BIG ones which are probably too much for a week’s supply.

I clicked on this thread because I wanted to find out what rocket is!!! Never heard arugula called that before. I buy the big containers of it and use it for about a week straight. My buns love it. I like to switch up their veggies as much as I can but it’s difficult to find a lot of selection this time of year.

LPT – Yeah, when I think of rocket I think of Dame’s rocket (wildflower).

Joe – Regular mustard greens are safe to feed, but not every day. It’s high is oxalic acid and vitamin A, so it should be paired with veggies low in those.

I’m not familiar with that lettuce but I assume it’s fine. As far as I know, any green lettuce is okay as long as it’s not iceberg.

Romaine is the only veggie I can be sure to find around here.

Oh yes iceberg and silver lettuce or any light colored lettuce is bad. Its mostly water and causes your bunny’s digestive system to do more work than it needs to. As for this cos lettuce, give him a little bit and see how he reacts to it, so check his poops and see if they are normal. It looks okay, because it is nice and green, but just to be safe, observe first.

Brought some cos and just tried it now , hopefully it’s same as romaine ….
His stomach is way less sensitive now it’s 11months old verses how it was at 7 even 8 months old

                                                Google tells me this :

Romaine or cos lettuce is a variety of lettuce (Lactuca sativa L. var. longifolia) that grows in a tall head of sturdy leaves with firm ribs down their centers. Unlike most lettuces, it is tolerant of heat.

Yes it seems to be quite similar. I think he’ll be okay with cos. Just monitor his poops and behavior carefully and see if it’s affecting him in any way. He should be fine with it.
