I would have definitely recommended removing your bunnies first, then bringing them back once everything is aired out. Awhile back someone else had asked about this and I called the company to get more specific instructions regarding pets. That was their recommendation as well.
These types of sprays can be irritating to their respiratory system. Plus if you are spraying it all around the room where they live, the spray particles can settle in their hay, food and water….not to mention on the bunnies’ fur that they will be grooming. So I would take out the hay, put new hay in, clean the water and food dishes.

It could definitely irritate their respiratory tracts.  Was there a certain problem that you were trying to combat?

I use chemicals (like Clorox wipes, which are bleach-free but still contain chemicals) to clean my hedgehog cages but I am careful to thoroughly rinse/air out before allowing them access again. This is the best way to do things when you’re dealing with pets and chemicals. If i were you, I would change all their food/water because Lysol has probably contaminated it.

You can also do a pretty thorough job of cleaning using natural products. An old but effective cleanser is white vinegar and water, with baking soda.
Also, a good odor control is an open box of baking soda in the room. Or a dish with charcoal or coffee grounds, though you have to make sure all of those stay out of nibbling reach of the bunnies. If you just light a match, the sulfer works on removing any odor in a room pretty effectively. I know because I am allergic to the scented products, so use matches instead.

I’m wondering how much free roam your bunny should be getting just yet, if litter training is an issue… Can you put an xpen out for some exercise on top of something water-proof or easily washable until his habits improve?

Lysol is not going to help with urine odor which is attracting the bunny back to the spot- I would recommend cleaing with vinegar.

Also if you need to disinfect something- like a cage or pen that was previously used and you bought for your own pets- I would recommend water and bleach- not Lysol.  If you clean the item and let it air out- the bleach/chlorine smell will dissipate.  Lysol and other similiar products have a lot of added scents to make it more appealing to humans.  Bleach is amazingly effective on many small animals diseases- that is what most shelters use to disinfect.

But for regular cleaning- using vinegar and/or baking soda is fine.  I do not “disinfect” for regular cleaning- the vinegar in the litterboxes cleans better than any other product so that keeps the odor down- and the bunnies are not in danger of catching anything from their own boxes, blankets, bowls, etc.  You just have to keep it clean- not disinfected.

You can also try Nature’s Miracle, a product recommended for use around all pets to remove stains and odors. It’s sold in all the pet stores now, as well as in the BB store, and in some health food stores I believe.

I use a stain/oder remover called Folex. I have cream/white carpets and rabbit pee is SO hard to get out.
I’ve used natures Miracle, Shout Carpet, Vinegar, oh and a bunch of others before getting this product.

For fresh small messes Vinegar is great and costs nothing, it’s not a great smell, but doesn’t last forever.

Can you clear out the room completely and use a carpet cleaner on it? There are ones you can rent (or if you have a friend or family member who would let you borrow theirs?) and you put a cleaning solution in with water and it does a very, very thorough job of cleaning and deodorizing. Since you’re also dealing with previous rabbit stains, that might be encouraging him to mark in that area even more. It does take about a day for the carpet to completely dry out, so he’d have to be somewhere else for about 24 hours. Once you got all the heavy stuff cleaned up, it would be much easier to just spot clean here and there if necessary.

We usually carpet clean in our house about twice a year. Since we do it so infrequently, we can’t justify buying or storing one in our tiny house, so my parents are kind enough to let us use theirs. At first glance, our carpet looks very clean (I vacuum constantly and we don’t wear shoes in the house!) but when it comes time to dump out the dirty water, it’s dark brown. Kind of gross to think you’re walking on that every day! Carpeting just takes a beating, even when treated well!
