Hahaha ok I don’t think she’s MEAN, but I liked that it rhymed
Here’s the issue we’ve been having….
I’ve been noticing recently is that there are large tufts of Leroy’s fur scattered around on the floor. I know he’s not shedding because when I pet him, I collect almost no fur on my hands, and also because his fur doesn’t come out in clumps like that when he’s going though a shed. I checked him all over and he doesn’t have a rash or any kind of skin condition.
Once last week (this was after I put them together 24/7) I saw Jeannie trying to hump Leroy! She never tried to mount during any of the bonding sessions, and other than her mounting they seem to get along great – no more nipping from Leroy, and they both groom each other. Anyway, when I saw Jeannie trying to mount Leroy, Leroy just moved away (he didn’t run away, just moved out of her reach) and she was left with a clump of his fur in her mouth. If all the clumps of fur that I’m finding (one a day or one every other day) are indicative of Jeannie trying to mount Leroy, should I separate them again? I don’t want a bald mini rex! Like I said, other than this fur-pulling/mounting they are doing well. Leroy doesn’t turn on Jeannie when she’s trying to mount him, and she’s not breaking the skin, so it doesn’t seem like it’s that big a deal to Leroy. Is this just something that they need to work out on their own, or should I take them back a step or two and go back to bonding sessions? However, I doubt going back to bonding sessions would work though because I’ve only ever seen Jeannie try to mount once – it’s pretty rare. If any of you have had experience with this and have some advice to offer, that would be great!
And sorry, I wasn’t sure whether to post this in behavior or bonding…
