Ok so I got some orchard hay and a small alfalfa.  Well they are long hairs and shedding  so just a little won’t hurt.

I fed them timmy hay and the orchard I had left over from BB…. Do you know Cotton is eating timmy hay!!!!

What is with him. He won’t eat it.   Now he eats it.  Ohhh. … Then he goes crazy for mountain hay… then he doesn’t…..

HE is making me craaaaazy.  Where as Ruby eats it all… She does love mountain hay tho..  She really digs into that.

Well I did order Teff hay from BB so lets see what tricks Cotton plays on me with this…..

Is any one else’s bunny this crazy?

          BT,
I think EVERYONE else’s bunny is this crazy. Sammy loves Romaine, then left it in her bowl and sorted out the green leaf lettuce. I think because it’s not dark enough. LOL.

It occurs to me that what Cotton likes is variety. The way you might love spaghetti, but if you have it for supper several nights in a row, by the 4th night you just want a bowl of cereal rather than look at any more spaghetti. He just likes some one day and perfers another the next. Close the bags well and give him a mix so he can pick or change them out repeatedly.

Sammy is eating all of her sea grass mattes for two weeks and isn’t touching her regular hay. Go figure.

well thats a relief… now if I can figure out which type he is in the mood for each day we should be ok….

You know I thought he wasn’t eating hay for a while and that he was eating his litter…  I finally realized he was eating hay and not litter…. The green hay strands are skinny unlike oat hay and with the green background I couldn’t see he was really eating hay…

Gosh my eyesight must be going or something….

So when he was searching around in his litterbox he was searching out the skinny green hays… and not the litter..

Maybe it’s time for a new litter box – in blue or pink.

Of course, since I wrote this Sammy went into her house last night and sat down for a big serving of hay. I had mixed all three kinds in her feeder and tossed it a bit like a salad and have no idea which she selected out, but she was eating some of it.

I have a little hay holder outside of her house on top of a matte that she can nibble out of if she wants to. Someone here once suggested changing out the hay so it’s fresh in their food dispenser (their bunny was rejecting day-old hay) but not thrown away. I put the hay that was in her cage into this other holder so it won’t go to waste if she’s in the mood for a taste.

well   oat and wheat are higher in calories  so is alfalfa

timmy meadow orchard  and teff  I believe are less calories and good fiber…. oh brome hay too…

It is just a different type of grain   like  you have rye and pumpernickel and wheat and flour grains they are different in taste and stuff…

*taste tests a few different hays*
Ptui! They all taste the same to me. Yuck! >.<

I know what you mean though, BT, I can’t tell you how many different bales I have to have in the house because M’Sieu Picky Pants can’t decide if he likes the texture and flavor or THIS hay or THAT hay or whatever! 0_o I am so glad Pip will eat anything, because she usually winds up finishing the bales off for him when he decides he’s had enough of it.

Fiver is a one hay bun. Give him timothy of any brand and that’s what he wants. Once in a while something different just for variety, but it usually gets snubbed.
