Hyacinth is listed in the House Rabbit Society List of Poisonous Plants so definitely stay away from it.

I looked up the mat, it’s made of water-hyacinth, I looked that up and it seems poisonous to virtually all animals so I don’t understand whay they’d make a chew mat out of it.

There are seaweed mats that aren’t poisonous, and I think Oxbow has hay mats as well. Those type of materials are bunny safe.

As a guess people confuse water hyacinth with the bulb flower hyacinth. The bulb hyacinth is poisonous. Water hyacinth is used as food in some areas of the world. It reaches maturity quickly and spreads, this makes a good vegetable for people and animals in areas that are limited with what they can grow.

It’s interesting that the aspca have it on their list as poisonous. Hopefully they always err on the side of caution, hate to see them mistake a toxic one for a safe one, I’ve looked up things using their list myself.
