Hey there, so I have a 3 yr old Holland lop names goose, she’s a big girl around 6.5 pounds and I am planning to have her meet my parents relatively new bun cookie who is a tiny thing as she is just a baby, under 6 months and probably weighs no more than 1.5 pounds. However they will not be living together, just visiting on occasion when me and my bf go on vacation or out of town when we can’t take her with us I’m wondering if the same bonding process should be done even if they won’t be living together? Also I know it’s recommended that they meet when they are both spayed, goose is but because cookie is still young she hasn’t been yet. As for personalitys goose is very interactive and sassy while cookie tends to keep to herself. I’m wondering if it’s safe for them to meet or if I should wait? Thanks for your help!!

Bunnies can not have play dates so unless they are going to live together 24/7, they shouldn’t be introduced.

They shouldn’t be put together if they are not going to be bonded. It just doesn’t make sense. Bonded pairs are usually stuck to each other like glue, and unbounded pairs are constantly hostile/attacking. Unfortunately there is really no middle ground. They are either bonded or they are not. They can’t simply be friends “on occasion”.

I understand that you would need the rabbit to say there for some reasons. My honest opinion? Just keep them in separate spaces and don’t let them meet at all. As I said, it doesn’t make sense to introduce them if they aren’t going to be bonded. And you may end up with a fight on your hands. Either way you slice it, it will do more harm than good to put them together.
