So as some of you guys know, Yumi has recently enough lost her mate Sampras
He passed about two weeks ago and since then she’s lost about a third of her overall body weight. Medically, they cant find anything wrong with her, and they think she is simply mourning
She has lost all interest in her food-she used to rush in the morning to get fed, used to jump up on shelves to get it, would binky when the bags rustled.
Now I spend a lot of time coercing her into eating her food. We set up a camera that recorded her for 4 hours and in that time she drank and ate a few stalks of hay and slept the rest of the time.
I watched it back with her in my lap, and she ate some food out of my hand.
She’s still peeing and pooping, although the poops are small and darker than usual.
I’ll be going back to college full time soon and I know she’ll spend more time alone because of that.
I’m not really sure what to do with her. She seems so lost and I amnt sure how to fix it.
I’ve thought about the possibility of getting her a new companion, it’s not something that suits me very well, which is why I hesitate but if it helps I’d figure out how to make it work. But I dont want to force another rabbit into her world if there’s something Im just not seeing.
I dont really want to watch my rabbit continue to just pine away.
