Introduction and breed question!

Hi everyone, I’m new to the forum and new to indoor bunny owning. I started with one fluffy little girl called Floof. She’s about 5 months old and due to be neutered. She’s a very lovely confident girl who loves exploring, racing, and binkying around the living room! She pretty much came litter trained and is the perfect house bunny. She used to lick me a lot but now for some reason she seems to prefer my fiance which makes me sad

Last week we decided to get her some company, so we got another fluffy loppy girl of around 3 months, called Poof (she looks like she’s an explosion of fluffiness). It only took 4 days of play dates, shared meals and adjacent cages to get them to bond and they are now best friends living together happily. Poof is a bit more skittish, but she’s only very new and she’s coming along really well. She’s not quite litter trained yet so leaves her poops all over the place when she runs around.

I’ve uploaded some pictures of them here on my profile (couldn’t get one good picture of them both!). Does anybody know what type of lop they are? They’re about the size of a DVD box!

Size suggests either holland lop or mini-lop, but ear length suggest french lop, especially on the tan one. They are still pretty young, so final size is still a bit up in the air. I wouldn’t expect 3 and 5 month old frenches to be done growing, but I would expect them to be further along. So, they maybe a cross between frenches and mini or holland.

Thank you. I did look at pictures of different lop types and they seemed a bit small for French lops, but as you’re saying their ears are a bit long for minis/Hollands. The lady at the pet store said they “could be dwarf lops” and I think that’s what Floof has been registered as with them, but again looking at pictures she seems a bit big for a dwarf!

If you live in the US, there is no such breed as “dwarf lop.” They definitely show no sign of carrying the dwarf gene.

Mini lops have longer ears than Hollands. Just looking at the pictures, I’m leaning toward mini. The head shape, body size, and ears more closely resemble a mini lop. Plus they are likely “pet quality” if they came from a pet store. That simply means they are purebred, but don’t meet breed standards.

Sorry for all the questions… When do they generally reach full size?

Small breeds usually stop growing around 6 months. Big breeds can take longer. I think mini lops probably reach full size a little after 6 months of age. Of course, they can still “fill out” a bit after that.
