I found her!!!
OK, first, I must ask forgiveness because she is not from a shelter. The synchronicity was too much to ignore, and yesterday I drove a full circle (like a 25 mile journey) checking out local bunnies, including those up for adoption at Petco. As I was heading back, I stopped right at the corner where my vet helped this lovely little private pet shop owner set up only birds, bunnies, and small exotics like lizards. She’s so conscientious about only having Oxbow food (I can get all I need from her), checking out parents, and getting med attention from my vet as needed. (My vet had reset a gecko’s dislocated shoulder one night.) I like her. What can I say. The bunny has ONLY eaten Oxbow hay and pellets.
So mentally I’d ruled her out because she said she only had dwarfs, and almost never a mini rex. But I couldn’t resist stopping, if only to buy a fresh bag of Oxbow pellets to have ready.
And there was a beautiful little bunny. She looked like a rex. She felt like a rex. She let me give her head pets. She let me hold her. She tasted me (kisses?). And the store owner said she’d be happy to keep her for me there until my apartment was ready and I picked her up.
Soooooooo – this morning I went back with $ and a video camera. I am uploading the very seasick-making video I took of her so everyone could see her. They kept saying how sweet she is and comfortable with people. She certainly was comfortable with me. It’s going to be hard waiting for 2 weeks (Nov. 13 – I get the keys and plan to take her home after that.) but it’s better than losing her. ADEE knows that the shelter with many bunnies is quite far from where I live, I’d need an appointment to get in, and I really wouldn’t want to go and have to go back again to bring someone home.
And this little one is irresistable.
I am pretty sure I am bewitched, so I think her name will be Samantha. Also, my mother just LOVES the name Bunnykins, so that will be her second name.

Yes, I thought she was a Hottot too. I couldn’t get exact info., but I suspect a Hottot mixed with a Rex. Or, when she sheds, I’ll discover she’s all Hotot and there goes the soft fur. What’s interesting is that she isn’t truly black and white. Her eye fur is dark gray, which shows up darker in the pix but is really about the same grey Spockie had. And the stripe down her back is a very light brown. Also she has some tan flecks in her fur in the back and sides.
Relieved to hear that Hottots are cuddle buns. She certainly cuddled me when I picked her up – twice.

Yipeeeeee! This is so exciting! Much applause too, for the petshop owner. She sounds like an exception to the rule. Good to support a business that is ethical. You can always support sheltered buns in other ways.
Now for the girl – She looks like a sweetie! How old is she? I loved/love Bewitched so I’m partial to those names. I was going to tease you by asking if you’d get a Derwood, Abner or Gladys, even a Doctor Bombay. Then I remembered Serena, Sam’s mischievous cousin. I remember she was heavy on the eye liner so I googled some images.
You wouldn’t believe it. My search returned something about Bewitched I wasn’t aware of. You may remember Serenas character was also played by Elizabeth Montgomery but for the credits, she used a stage name which is…………….. Pandora Spocks! Had to tell you as I thought you’d appreciate the coincidence.
btw, I also like Hermione (or Marylin for an alluring name). So Rabbitpam, I’m sending you “patience” vibes to get you thru the next 2 weeks.
She’s so beautiful and she’ll be so happy!

jerseygirl – I LOVE that coincidence with E. Montgomery. Mum ixnayed Pandora because she’s a sweet bunny and we don’t want to tempt her into Pandora-like mischief. But Samantha is still at the top with me. I also like Serendipity.
MM, of course I like Spooky. Spooky how much it’s like Spockie…
If they were a pair (and yes, on Halloween, it’s likely he had a paw in this.) it would be cute. I think I need something a bit more feminine. BT – considered Cleopatra due to the eyeliner too.

Wow! She’s beautiful! So great that you get to get her earlier than you expected!
(She does look like Lizzy! The shelter told me Lizzy was an English Spot, though…wonder what the difference is…)
She reminds me of my FAVORITE Bunny Bunch shelter bunny. She’s a mini-rex, about Lizzy’s size. White, with “eyeliner” around her eyes, and black tips on her ears. She totally looks like a Hotot/MiniRiex mix…and she begs me for noserubs every time I go it. And gives me puppy-dog eyes. And I’ve ALMOST told them I want to adopt her 3 times, already. Her name is Lily Belle. I’d have to rename her “Belle” if I got her. It’d be crazy to have 2 bunnies that looked alike named Lizzy and Lily…Someone give me a bunch of reasons why I can’t have a 3rd rabbit, please?
Hey, Rabbitpam, why don’t you come out here, and adopt Lily Belle, too, and then YOU can have 2 look-alike buns, and I would know my favorite went to a good home!
