Introducing kitty and Bud

We are picking the kitty up from the person who has been fostering her and socializing her for us on Sunday evening. Hubby and my daughter are gonna go shopping on Saturday since I work all day…and after I get home I’ll set up her room so she can get settled in. I was told that it’s better to let her alone with her litter pan, food and water dish in a spare room and pretty much not bother her for like 24 hours….IDK though.  

What would be the best way to introduce the new kitty (our daughter has learned how to say “kitty kitty kitty” so that may end up being her name…lol) to Bud? Just kinda like how you would do it with another bun? Or some other way? I dont know how much time they would be spending together but I just don’t want her to try to eat her when she gets bigger than him…

I am so nervous about bringing this cat into our home…are there any illnesses that can be transmitted from kitty to rabbit? Should we keep her quarantined until we get her a full vet check up?

aw! you got a kitty! well, there’s nothing bad between cats and bunnies. i personally don’t have a cat, but i do have a bunny. let the kitty be alone for awhile. once 24 hours pass, let her out. let her walk around but keep the bunny not even close to her. after a few days introduce the bunny to the kitty. the bunny may be the predator to the kitty or vice- verse. if the cat yelps or shoots her arm at the bunny, move her away from the bunny and separate them, and vice- verse.

you can never know what might ever happen, every bunny  and cat is different . but make sure to vet-check the cat before bringing her even near the bunny. (:

i’m pretty sure there aren’t any illnesses transmitted from bunny to cat or vice verse. but make sure to ask your vet all these questions before joining them together.

Some people have cats and rabbits successfully (I have a friend with two of each). However, please be careful. We had a friend and her old cat stay with us for about 6 weeks. The cat was near death (died a few months after moving out), was blind, walked painfully slow, etc. It was creepy. However, when she realized my buns was near, the cat darted toward my rabbit, like he was going to hurt him!!! I couldn’t believe it. We had to keep the cat in the basement, away from the rabbit, for the rest of their stay.

buffybunlover- yup i’ll post some pictures once we all get settled…Actually I don’t think I’ve even taken any pics of Bud since Halo died…I feel bad now So i owe you guys a bunch of pictures….I will take a look at those sites and see if they help….Thank you!

And Th004- we had a little kitten (but we werent allowed to keep her so we gave her to our friends) and she would sit on top of Halo’s cage and watch her….probably not a good idea but it didnt seem to bother Halo at all….and yeah that sounds super creepy kinda wonder why she lasted as long as she did…. she probably didnt know what it was….lol poor thing..
