As mentioned in this thread:

there’s now a new bunny in the house! His owner brought him by to check out the place and see if it would be a good home for him, and evidently it wa because now he’s here for good! So without further ado, I give you… CARBUN!

– Annette
Aww – what a cute little bunny! I do love a bunny bum. 🙂 Congrats on the new addition!
That is so adorable. It looks like he’d warmed up to his new home.
soooooo CUTE!!! part chincilla?? He has chinchilla type ears! Congrats!
OMG!
Isn’t he just darling!!
Congrats on being approved haha (;
hug Bun for me. ![]()
OH! He is so beautiful! It certainly looks like he’s taken to the house quite well! Congrats on the new addition!
Do you mind if I ask a question, after I saw your thread earlier today, it got me thinking. How much of your decision to contact the owner was based on the fact he is already neutered, or did that have nothing to do with it, was it something else that made you consider it? I see so many Craigslist ads trying to rehome rabbits (NOT that we’re in any position to take on another…) and none of the ads say the bunnies are speutered (so I assume they must not be… if they were they’d probably mention this.) I have very little desire to go thru the whole surgery process again unless it were absolutely necessary, like a bunny fell into my lap and I wasn’t really given the option of adopting an already altered bunny.
I don’t know, I know I’m rambling… but I was just curious. Was that a big incentive for you, or would you have taken him in even if he were intact?
Actually the neutering was a big factor. Not necessarily for the convenience or cost factor though. When I read over her ad and noticed he’d been neutered it told me that this was someone that took being a bunny-parent very seriously, and as such he’d probably been cared for very well. It also told me that this probably was someone who loved him very much and it wasn’t just a case of oh this bunny is too much work so I’ll say I’m moving to try and get rid of him. In addition it meant that any bonding attempts could be made sooner, because we wouldn’t have to wait the surgery and recuperation time before making the attempt. And it seemed like it would be such a mean way to welcome the guy – hey there, I know you’ve been with one mommy virtually all your life but you’re going to have to leave her now and get used to a whole new place and new people and other animals and oh yeah guess what else we’re going to do to you…
So yes, the fact that the little guy was already neutered was important.
– Annette
Thanks! That’s another great point about bonding… Otherwise they’d all have to separated for at least a couple months… Not to mention any potential problems an intact bun could cause betw/ your bonded bunnies…
Congrats on getting Carbun. I gasped at that 1st pic – his ad photo didn’t do him justice. A.d.o.r.a.b.l.e ! And his compact little body from behind…so cute! I’m sure you haven’t taken your eye’s of him yet!
Oh goodness – so cute!
I love his name!!!!!!!!!!!
He is SOOOO cute – is he a netherland dwarf? I love that name too – it’s a cute play on words.
Oh my gosh!! He’s adorable Congratulations!!!
Scooter here. About his name…his previous owner is into cycling, and was thinking of how Carbun’s coloring looks like that of a carbon-fiber bicycle. Kinda like how we named Bailey because his coloring looks like Bailey’s Irish Cream.
Hmm, she had a carbon fiber bike? I want one of those too!
Those little ears make him look like an extra poofy mouse. He’s cute. ![]()
OH he is cute. His little ears and big round face. I like compact bunnies. Congrats.
Congrats on your new bun and what a great name.
He is way too cute. So tiny. Love the disapproval in the first pic. I agree, great name. So clever.
Carbun’s “old mommy” here – yes I have been snooping now and then to see how the little guy is doing as Scooter & Annette were kind enough to let me know they were regular posters here (which was hugely influential in my desire to meet them as clearly they know their stuff and are willing to research, etc – I was being extremely picky!)! It will be nice to occassionally pop in on here and see if there is any new news on him without bothering Scooter or Annette, and check in with how he is adapting to the new home (he is not used to being in a cage as he was free ranging, and it’s his first time living with so many other bunnies, kitties and a puppy!).
Did not plan on posting here but I just had to comment that it was really Carbun that chose his new home with them when he did a bunny flop after all his venturing around and meeting all the other furry members of the family – after that I had little say in the matter I think! I was incredibly impressed with how well he took to their home (and the cats and dog even!) and almost felt a little snubbed by him ![]()
I miss Carbun a lot (my place is so strangely silent without him underfoot!) but I have to say Scooter & Annette are both fantastic bunny parents and Carbun could not have gone to a better home – I am extremely excited for him! It was an easy choice as I absolutely feel they are now his real parents and I am just a curious blast from his past
. Though, from the looks of it everyone here is a pretty fantastic bunny parent (there needs to be more great souls out there like all of you – particularly more bunny owners like all of you).
Anyway, I just want to say I feel incredibly lucky to having the peace of mind knowing he is in such a wonderful new family. There were many people who contacted me (not all as there were some great potential parents, but most) whom seemed to have no clue about taking care of rabbits (I know I was not perfect by any means and often learned about rabbit proofing post-incidents and such but did try my best to learn!).
Glad everyone seems to like his name too; I am glad he is keeping it as it does fit him at this point!
Awww now I’m totally teary!
Carbun had his vet appointment today just for a quick checkup, it confirmed what we already knew – he’s in great shape and he’s 2.01 pounds. She thought he was a total cutie.
I took a few more pictures of him today:
Hee hee hee… pathetic hooman slaves are completely spellbound by my irresistible cuteness! Now to initiate Mind Control Protocol…. bring… me… carrots… now…. bring… me… carrots… now….

I disapprove of you taking pictures of me during my evil planning sessions

Bitty bunny flop

Aw man, you didn’t see that did you?

You’re nobunny ’til sunbunny loves you

– Annette
That is the cutest bunny flop I’ve ever seen! Geez, you make me want more buns and I don’t even have my 2 bonded yet. So adorable.
I love the name and he’s super cute!
If you got another one just like him, you could have Carbun copies. ![]()
Those are adorable pictures! I’ve totally gotten the itch for a 3rd bunny lately and this is NOT helping! 🙂 It definitely looks like he’s settling in well, already plotting mind control and all.
Best Bunny Flop EVER!
Awe that flop is ADORABLE!!
I want to tickle his tummy!
