Not really sure if this is where I should put this question but my new bun, Stormi, has been settling in really well. She loves pets and treats and has really been warming up to me. I really want to put her on my bed, just because that’s where I tend to spend a lot of my time and I think she’d be comfortable sitting there next to me as I do homework on my laptop, because it’s a lot comfier than sitting on the floor with her. She hasn’t hopped up, it’s a little bit high and she doesn’t seem to be much of a jumper so far. I am just afraid she is going to pee. I don’t really have a reason to be, she has had one accident since I got her and since I put a litter box on that side of the room she hasn’t a had a single accident, not even a territorial poo. She doesn’t really mind being handled, as much as a bunny can not mind, so I figure I can just pick her up and put her there. I guess what I’m asking is how your buns do on beds and how you introduced them to it.

I haven’t let my bunny on my bed yet because he isn’t neutered yet and is therefore peeing everywhere, but once he’s neutered I plan on buying a mattress protector so put on just in case he has an accident. It’s one thing to wash your sheets but to have your mattress covered in pee? Yuck. As for lifting her up, do you have anything lower than the bed that you could put beside it so she could hop onto that and then onto and off of the bed herself?

The mattress pad is a good idea and I’ll try fashioning some way for her to get on and off on her own! She is not spayed yet, the earliest I could get her in with the clinic was March 19 which is awhile away.

I’ve discovered a halfway step! I recently had to cut the foam mattress pad on my bed because it was too big and never got around to throwing away the pieces because I’m lazy. I put two together to make a mini bed for her and put a blanket over it, like a mini bed! I’ll see how she does with that/if she pees on it and then go on from there

I got a storage trunk as a stair step to the bed, and draped one of her blankets on the top of the trunk leading onto the bed itself. Since your bed smells like you, Stormi might need to feel invited to explore that space. Having something of hers leading onto it should help her feel welcome. Esther (my bun) is pretty territorial, so having something that smelled like her also helped avoid her trying to “mark” the space as hers.
