Introducing a male to bonded male female couple?

So basically, I have fallen in love with this adorable boy he’s 7 months old mini lop and gorgeous brown fur and what I can tell, a total licker and been fixed for 2 months now they say

I am currently on a medical leave from work so I’ve been trying to walk around and do things so I am not to lazy since I can’t do much besides walk right now (Had surgery, healing is going smoothly)

So I’ve been visiting the shelter a lot and he’s been there for a whole two months now and I’ve been visiting him a few times a week, which the shelter people say is awesome to keep him socialised

But I was just wondering if it’d be a bad idea or hard to bond him with my current two buns who are a couple and spend all day grooming / cuddling / sleeping / playing together

I don’t want to cause them stress or damage their current relationship together

Thoughts?

Oh and I’ve never done a trio bond either so any tips for that would be good too if you guys think it’d be a good idea

It’s impossible to say what’s right since it really is so dependent on the rabbits themselves. Except in very rare cases, bonding is always going to be at least a little bit stressful for the rabbits involved, sometimes it’s more stressful than expected, other times less. As you know, trying to bond a trio can damage the original bond, but it also may not and once again there really is no way to know for sure.

Can you bring your pair to the shelter to see how they react to him? That might give you some idea of whether it has a chance of working out. Do they let people have a trial period for a week or two?

I’m not sure. I can ask! I got my female from the same shelter but she was rather wild when I got her and they didn’t think it wad a good idea to introduce her with Sketch till she calmed down more so I just brought her home (I am lucky that panned out) but I will definitely go in an ask about that tomorrow

I really am worried about damaging my current pairs bond though.

I feel like I’m being selfish wanting to get him since they are perfectly happy. Even though part of me feels like I really should cause no one in my town seems to adopt bunnies, they’re always in the shelters for 7 or so months at a time.

So every time a new bunny comes into the shelter and is there for several months your bonded bunnies will increase in number?

I understand feeling bad for the bunny, unfortunately we can’t save/adopt them all. But if you do feel that the match could work out, then there’s one very happy bunny in a great home

If the bonding doesn’t work out, do you have the space, time and resources to care/clean separate areas?

I only have one room that I can keep the buns in (though they get free run of the basement while I’m home to watch them) and I’d be worried about them being stressed with live to each other ij the same room if they didn’t like each other

But space wise Yeah there’s enough space and I have enough time and resources

Probably me worrying about how my other buns will feel about some random buck intruding their lives is probably a good enough reason not to get him

Maybe if I could do a weeks worth of bunny dates and they go really well I could get him. Cause thay way even if they don’t bond bond if the dates go well they’d probably not mind living next to each other
