Our five new buns from Calgary! Four are lops, REW

Abra  (He seems blind to us, and to the volunteer who left comments for us from Calgary; He also has a wound on his ear that seems to be healing well, defintiely from fighting with other buns-very big for sure, but we’re treating it and it has a nice healthy scap on it)

        Cadabra

        Hocus

        Pocus

And Tabitha  (The ‘aggressive’ rabbit who was going to be put to sleep She’s certainly cage-protective but not aggressive at all and HUGE!! So cute)

Abra is the one I love.

As for ‘aggressive’ bunnies – yeah, it is amazing how they get so mad when you cuddle them – just lying there and tooth purring. Of course, when I see those labels on cages, I immediately haveta hold them. Unfortunately, Marcy only labels those that ARE aggressive and I have received more than one bite for my stupidity.

Yeh I was a little upset about this one; They were going to euthanize for space but she was deemed unadoptable for agression…I can understand for space (Sadly but it happens) or agression with a dog or even severe with a cat…but….
Her data said ‘she stomped and lunged’ during a vet exam…the day she was surrendered…I’d have stomped too. If you talk and go slowly you can even reach right into her cage…she’s just shy and fearful not aggressive. She’s actually very very sweet-I’m so glad we had the oppurtunity to have her.

What a great bunch of bunnies.   I don’t like the idea of putting buns down for aggression.  Most of the time it is something you can work with them on.   They are scared or territorial of their space.   I am so glad that that bun didn’t get put down.  A thump and a lunge is nothing compared to some bunnies who really bite hard.

And like Cotton when he smells unaltered male rabbits on me. Now that is aggression.  And I still love him and keep him.

They are an adorable group of rabbits for sure.  The one that may be blind.  Awe.  She can make it too. She can adjust and learn to map out her territory  and get around.   Good for them.  I am glad for you too K&K

It’s amazing how many times that mislabel of aggression happens.  One of my favorite videos is the one from SaveAbunny regarding this issue. I think I have played it before.

What cuties…you do such good work. Much holiday love to you. And give all your sweet bunnies (rescues and otherwise) extra nommies from me, and probably from all of us (especially Priscilla!).

Thanks for the pics. Been curious about them! Are they being fostered out or at the shelter?

OMG, that’s like REW heaven! Lots of little Bindis!!! There was lots of squealing when I looked at those. If only I lived a lot closer

Most animals that are deemed aggressive are that way due to abuse, neglect or inexperienced people. If Olivia was at the SPCA she more than likely would have been deemed “aggressive”. She is terribly agressive if you just reach your hands into her cage and try to grab her. She responds well if you are patient and quiet. But when she is out running she is so sweet. I’m hoping the growling/biting in the cage will be reduced when I get her fixed in February.

                            Jersey-they are at our shelter

I cannot believe they even (regular shelters) try to classify rabbits as aggressive with the same criteria as they use for cats and dogs…I’d agree with a rabbit shelter (or even just a good regular shelter) classifying them as aggressive like that. Classify them as ‘cage territorial’ or something along those lines, explain caution needs to be used, but don’t call them aggressive… Well, at least shes with us now, and one of our horse volunteers sister may be adopting her!
