No one can really tell you when is too soon, as that is going to be different for everyone. But in my mind, if you are finding yourself wanting another bun, then it is not too soon. There are so many rabbits in shelters that need homes, so I don’t think of it as “replacing” the bun, but as giving another bun in need a home. If you aren’t sure about whether you are ready to fully adopt, you could inquire about fostering for the shelter.
The bonding process with each bun is very different, so if you get a more outgoing bun they may trust you right away. It does sound like being boarded for 2 weeks would be stressful though, would it be possible for you to have a pet sitter come to your home instead?
