Hi there , oh and Best wishes for 2010 to all …

My question today is about taking my rabbit back home to The Netherlands where I will live .
My current location is Seoul South Korea , and I was wondering how rabbits travel on airplanes ? ^^

Knowing that rabbits are truly sensitive to change and changing surroundings , I am concerned on how I should go about this .
Any tips would be appreciated . My trip is not yet planned . Addoption is an option but would like to keep him , since it’s been almost 3 years now …

        Thanks

        Ralph

Oh goodness, well first you need to find out if he’s even allowed out of Korea and into the Netherlands. Have you researched this yet? I know that there are always restrictions from country to county. I hope this is allowable for you.

Also I would find out if any airlines out of Korea into the Netherlands will allow them in the cabin.

If not I know of a lady who brought all 5 of her rabbits back from Saudi Arabia to the US but it was in cargo on Lufthansa and she was very anxious but they did take good care of her rabbits and they all did well.

They do better if you can have them in the cabin with you. But as Sarita said, first find out if you can even take him out of South Korea and into the Netherlands. If so, you may have to go through vet checks and get certain shots done. If and airline allows them to travel with you, get it in writing and triple check with them before you leave. You may not find specific info about pet travel or rabbits in particular, but it is possible to negotiate things with some airlines.

We have had members who arranged travel only to be told No once they went to check in at the air port. (Malaysia I think)
Another member had to rehome his rabbit as China does not allow rabbits out of the country.
Some countries also have restrictions depending on immunisation status of the rabbit. Some must be immunised against certain things – but in the US however, they don’t allow rabbits immunised againt Myxi and VHD into the country. So there are lots of things to investigate about the country you are exiting and the one you are entering.
