Lately when I have been giving Thumper her morning pellets she will come charge across the room to get them. As adorable as this is she often ends up running into my hand and breaking the skin with her top teeth. I think she’s just really excited for her pellets.

Do you guys agree or is she trying to get my hand out of the way so she can enjoy her pellets?

I don’t know about Thumper, but Kurotta gets ridiculously crazy for his pellets. Every single day. So if Thumper is anything like him, I’d say she’s trying to get your hand out of the way lol!

Thor used to do the same thing! When she was younger she was so rambunctious that I took to preparing her pellets in another room, then putting them down where she couldn’t charge me. I found after a while of breaking the running/charging habit that she stopped altogether.

It may be that you are unintentionally training her that running and biting will get her food

I think she’s probably just so excited for pellets that she’s grabbing at them and catching your hand in the process.

I’ve been nipped a time or two when giving her Majesty (She makes me capitalize it) her morning Blueberries. I think it happens because A) Rabbits can’t see the end of their nose and under their mouths, and B) because they’re greedy, treat horking piggies.

Tricky one, but likely to be completely unintentional! Rabbits can get pretty clumsy when they lose their minds, and those teeth are so sharp!
As said: you don’t want to give her the message that it’s okay to hurt you, even if she’s overly enthousiastic. I’d look into ways of training her to become less hyped about food.

I think I’m just going to have to learn to hold the bowl so my hand isn’t in the way. I wouldn’t want to train her to be less excited about food, just because that’s a useful indicator that all is well.

Oh god, the amount of injuries boos given me (and herself) over her excitement for food is insane. One time she was running around my legs so crazy, that I tripped over her and fell on my face. Boo wasn’t hurt though, she was happily munching on the pellets that had fallen on the ground
