I have 3 Bunnies who get regular nail trimmings. We were doing house work and my son found a full bunny nail on the floor. We checked all bunnies and found the one that lost it. The nail came off entirely, it looks like there was a little dried blood on it. We cleaned his cage and didn’t see any blood in there. We did notice a smudge on the hard floor. Is there any thing I can do to help prevent infection? He seems to be doing ok and not favoring the foot at all. When checking the nail spot on the back foot, the best way to describe what it looks like is it has a little red nub where the nail was. Will his nail grow back? Thank for any advice!

          Ouch.
Nails don’t tend to infect but they can. If it stays dry — good, but keep the rabbit on very clean surface. It will grow back but possible crooked. I have one rabbit with this because he is an insane digger.
You want to change the litterbox very often until this has healed for sanitary reasons.

I had a rabbit who lost her’s almost completly. As Petzy mentioned just keep everythign extra clean & dry so you don’t have to worry about infection. My girls nail grew back without any issues.

This has come up for others in previous posts, so I did a search to confirm a recommendation I want to make. K&K wrote the following:
“It didn’t look infected at all so I packed it with neosporin daily and it’s totally fine and growing out normally now; I’d pack it with neosporin/polysporin and keep a strict eye on it for any sign of infection-I’m sure it’ll be fine but you want to keep a sharp eye.”

Important thing to keep in mind according to BB is to use the Neosporin WITHOUT the Painkiller ingredient. Just plain. It may not be necessary, but if you are worried or see signs of infection starting, that’s something you can use. Just remember bunnies lick their paws so use sparingly.
