Fuzzy has free roam of the living room and kitchen during the day, and stays in the kitche at night. Pepperoni has free roam of the bedroom and bathroom, day and night. The only time I put them in a cage is when I transport them to the vet. My house is completely pet-proofed with electric cords inaccessible to rabbits behind furniture. They live in separate halves of the house because Pepperoni is bigger than Fuzzy and plays too rough. I provide them entertainment too: radio or conversation. They don’t like being caged or put in a carrier.
They get Oxbow food pellets and hay. Pepperoni is on anti-biotic medicine for inner ear infection. The vet had a culture done to match the medicine to the Pasturella bacteria. He gets Benebac daily. Fuzzy has some eating issues. We’re not sure if he has dental discomfort, or finickiness about eating. I’ve been giving Fuzzy some critical care supplementation. He is back to eating some hay. They get very little veggies at this time. Veggies give Pepperoni diarrhea while taking anti-biotic. Fuzzy stops eating hay altogether so he can hold out for veggies.
Fuzzy had his only tooth reduction recently. He’s 5 and a half yrs old. Pepperoni has had many tooth reductions. He’s 6 and a half yrs old. He’s doing surprisingly well considering his problems. Its stressful. I spent about 1,200 dollars in the last 2 months on them.
I had a rabbit (Fuzzy, Sr) who lived until he was 12. My vet says they are old starting at 6.
