indolent ulcers

So.     I have searched again on info on indolent ulcers.    Found some good info this time.     About the layer over it (scab)  not connecting feelers or legs  to the actual surface of the ulcer there fore  it never heals.  That is exactly what is happening to him.

Prednisone usually heals them.  Not Cottons   The ones that don’t heal for long time can turn into cancer.   

They had info on mostly cats and eye ulcers in rabbits.

Poor Cotton.    I contacted the vets office to ask about removing the ulcer and going past it onto normal tissue and see if that would heal it.  I was referred to a vet who does laser work nowadays.

Hopefully I can get Cotton in to be seen.       She may or may not be able to laser it.   Hopefully I can get him in in december.   I am quite doubtful she can help with laser due to it being  on his lip.   I know they do this on eyes though.  All we can do is try.

We will see.    I had to cancel Boo’s insurance so my account wouldn’t bounce and now they won’t cover his lip.    Oh well the lazer work doens’t cost much I talked to a rabbit fosterer I know.     She gave me some ideas on antibiotics that the vet may have him try too.

You know from what I have read I don’t think this is going away.    But I have to try.    

Speaking with the foster friend she did mention if my vet sent the biopsies to tampa she must have sent them to so n so and sure nuf thats who looked at it.      Then his current vet did all she could and we are stuck with his lip being this way.   No one has said this but it seems to be coming down to this in my opinion.

Cotton I am doing all I can for you you poor thing.  

OH and on causes   some are allergic some unknown therefore considered hereditary.  Pet store breeding  must be hereditary.   Just some strange fluke of nature affecting my little Cotton Boo McChew.

I reread the info on the site.    It says antibiotics won’t heal this stuff.   great.

Well he is doing fine otherwise   eating chewing playing coming to be loved on.  The link is below if anyone wants to see it.   Cottons covers a large area so I doubt from what I read that it can be laser treated.    Drat

That’s interesting BT. I didn’t realise you knew what it was called. Would cutting it out be an option or too risky? I can see why it might be better to let it be and just keep checks on it for changes.

What happens if you leave the scab on, does it bother him? Does it just fall off by itself in time?

NO the scab never falls off it just gets bigger n bigger n bigger.    Then it gets bumped and irritates cotton.    I will try to put the link again.

to find these sites i put in

indolent ulcers in rabbits    and found this site.    IT starts off about cats or dogs mostly dogs I think and corneal ulcers then mentions rabbits and has a pic of it on the eye.   

ulcers are not normallly seen in rabbits except for occular       this is very strange for Cotton to have one on the lip like cats do.   Hope you can get the site up it is very interesting.
