If you had unlimited money, unlimited house space and unlimited time what animal would you love to have that you dont already own?
For me it would have to be a ferret, i know thats not a very exciting one lol, but i have always wanted one however here they are really hard to get hold of (they dont sell in pet shops and so you either have to go to a rescue centre of which there are hardly any which take ferrets as just no-one here has them or get one from a breeder which i dont really like to either as i dont agree with people breeding animals for money) and their cages are really expensive (for a decent one) and also the bunnies i would be really worried about so i know i cant have one, but in an ideal world thats what i would like
how about u guys?
I dream of owning a small property for all of my animals, I used to own 3 ducks as a child and my dad, who has since passed away built me a great big pond for them. I would love to own some ducks again.
i’ve always wanted a snake, but this was before i even had bunnies… now i couldn’t actually imagine my life without bunnies, so i guess a snake is out.
If I had that I would be running an animal rescue, I love all animals and I just couldn’t pick one. Plus I think all animals need a good home or a great place to wait for their forever home.
Birds! I would love to have some birds! A nice big aviary…..
A squirrel. Squirrels are one of my favorite animals, but, (a) I really shouldn’t be stealing wildlife and (b) if somehow I did end up raising a squirrel, I would need a LOT of space for it. I’d also love a Siberian cat, which are purportedly hypoallergenic, but they’re also like $4,000. They can get to be like 30lbs, though, and I’d totally love a giant kitty. I also like Klee Kais, which are like teeny weeny pocket size huskies, but the allergies would be an issue there. Oh, and a fainting goat! (seriously, look up fainting goat on youtube– you won’t be disappointed) Of course, the poor creature would never get any rest because I’d constantly be making it fall over, but. Oh well.
Oh, and one of these.
SQUIRRELS! I LOVE SQUIRRELS! Yes, a room FULL of crazy squirrels! Of course, I know this isn’t possible because squirrels belong outside – but oh how I do enjoy them so! We have a bunch of squirrels in our backyard that I feed peanuts to – perhaps I shall go lay down on the lawn and cover myself with peanuts and see what happens…..
i would LOVE a huge bunny!! that would be so awesome! squirrel sounds kewl, never heard of someone keeping them? but then again i didnt know people kept hedgehogs either, to be honest i still dont get it i mean dont u have to wear gloves all the time?
I would have rabbits rabbits n more rabbits. horses and wolves. I always wanted a wolf. I have seen 2 wolves 1 full timberwolf at a vet office he was huge and gentle as can be. just beautiful. and a timberwolf husky mix at a pet store a lady was shopping for it it was hers. gorgeous animals. well the wolves would have to be outside. and the rabbits indoors. hmm. I had better be careful of my buns. maybe a rescue for wolves and buns. and horses. ohh to dream big
i adore huskys, they are the best large breed of dog i think, although i do love border collies too and i adore yorkies – oh god so many to choose from >.<
I’m living proof that you can have both!
My snake’s name is Beatrice and she’s almost 2 years old. So far, no problems, though Beatrice does seem to come out of her hide and investigate more now that Layla is home!
My dream animal would be a horse. I SO want horses. And maybe a Newfoundland too! ![]()
I would have a ferret and a hedgehog… I love them so much, but they’re illegal here! Oh, and a miniature goat.
k&d – you don’t need gloves with hedgies. They have short quills that don’t hurt too much unless they get you under the fingernails. They are actually very easy to handle.
Chickens – I’ve always wanted chickens and roosters – I’ve heard they are very intelligent and bond to their owners too. I love the bantam roosters, they are so pretty.
Maybe some ducks too.
Has anyone ever read “Enslaved by Ducks” by Bob Tarte? I love this book – the writer (who I believe wrote for Rolling Stone Magazine) first acquires a rabbit named Binky and then goes on to acquire more animals. It’s a true story and a great read for any animal lover. It’s a beautiful, funny, and thoughtful read, I HIGHLY recommend it.
BATS!! BATS=BATS=BATS=and=more=BATS!!
…next to the Rabbit, the bat is the most misunderstood creature on this planet!!
Bats are VERY important for our environment…

One of these days, I definitely will go to Austin TX to the Congress Avenue Bridge:
When engineers reconstructed downtown Austin’s Congress Avenue Bridge in 1980 they had no idea that new crevices beneath the bridge would make an ideal bat roost. Although bats had lived there for years, it was headline news when they suddenly began moving in by the thousands. Reacting in fear and ignorance, many people petitioned to have the bat colony eradicated.
About that time, BCI stepped in and told Austinites the surprising truth: that bats are gentle and incredibly sophisticated animals; that bat-watchers have nothing to fear if they don’t try to handle bats; and that on the nightly flights out from under the bridge, the Austin bats eat from 10,000 to 20,000 pounds of insects, including agricultural pests.

As the city came to appreciate its bats, the population under the Congress Avenue Bridge grew to be the largest urban bat colony in North America. With up to 1.5 million bats spiraling into the summer skies, Austin now has one of the most unusual and fascinating tourist attractions anywhere.
The Austin American-Statesman created the Statesman Bat Observation Center adjacent to the Congress Bridge, giving visitors a dedicated area to view the nightly emergence. It is estimated that more than 100,000 people visit the bridge to witness the bat flight, generating ten million dollars in tourism revenue annually.
A select group of scientists, after meeting with colleagues from government agencies, universities and nonprofit groups, is recommending a research road map of sorts for attacking what may be the gravest threat ever faced by bats – a mysterious malady known as White-nose Syndrome. WNS has killed tens, perhaps hundreds, of thousands of hibernating bats of at least five species in the northeastern United States during the past two winters. Mortality rates exceeding 90 percent have been reported in some hibernation caves, yet the cause is not known. …more

I read about the Bridge, but I thought it was in CA. Thanks for posting the details. Bats are nice.
I would have a flock of sheep. I’ve always loved sheep, and go see them in fairs, at sheep-shearing demonstrations, and any I happened to pass by on the road. Would love a farm for sheep.
A BUNNY of course!
A horse.
And I think if I could have water/ocean as part of my dream home, I’d like a dolphin or two, otters, and some penguins.
Ooooohhhhh, I want a bat too! XD I love bats!!! My mom got to pet a bat that got stuck in the playground at her school. ;___; (they moved him, don’t worry) But still, I was super-jealous. She said he was very soft. n___n
I forgot I also want a Lama. There is one down the road on a padock full of sheep, I have been told they put them in with the sheep to stop the foxes from killing the sheep.
I would definately get a penguin! I saw a show on animal planet a long time ago about this family in Japan that had a pet penguin. It had it’s own lil room and everything so it could live comfortably there. The penguin even wore a backpack and would walk down to the corner store for treats!!!! It was the cutest thing I had ever seen!
Other then that I would want a farm, with every animal I could get lol. When I was little I always said I would get a big house with a room for every animal, a cat room, bunny room, hamster room, etc.
Right now I already have a puppy, kitten, hamster, two mice, two fish, and of course my new bun! and I couldn’t be happier with the babies I already have ![]()
i would love some sheep to! although i wouldnt have any because it wouldnt be fare to them, im not really an outdoorsy person and so although i would love some i know i couldnt but they are amazing animals, i rescued a sheep once which had escaped and caught its leg i drove it back to its farm and the woman fixed the whole and called the vet out, sheep was fine yay!
I think I have all the pets I can handle!! If I ever got rich though I would definetly open a rabbit sanctuary and hire lots of great people to help care for and love the rabbits. It would be a rabbit paradise and any rabbit needing a home would be welcome to spend his/her life in luxury and love.
When I was little, I used to want a prarie dog. Yup. Can’t think of why now, but….
And then of course, a neighbor of ours had a bobcat in a cage. SPCA raided them.
But I did used to want a cougar. Badly. All the big cats fascinated me and still do.
Now? Probably a Flemmie. Or maybe just a grey English Lop. I just LOVE those ears!
If I had to be honest with myself though, I really need to stop having animal companions after the ones I have now. Two old huskies, both crippled, one stray cat, two housecats (who none of which get along) one ten year old goldfish whose tank needs cleaning every other day (can’t find a decent filter for him) and the two buns.
I love Mimzy and Pip with all my heart, and my kitties too…but I have had to bury so many dogs in the last few years, I just can’t handle the goodbyes anymore. I will probably spend my estate on animal rescue…but I really shouldn’t get attached to any more. My heart can’t take it.
I don’t even want to think about when Mimzy leaves me….God forbid. I hope it’s YEARS from now. >.<
Sheesh, pardon my maudlin….. 0.o;
