I am getting so impatient.  I am mixing their 2 pellets to get them on Oxbow.  Cotton and HB eat the old pellets and leave the new ones.  I leave them there until all the pellets are eaten.  That way they are switching over.  But gosh Cotton is stubborn.  I see him eating more hay though. Thats good.

It has been a week and I feel like just giving them the timmy pellets only. Grrrr. Stubborn rabbits.

At nite when I normally feed them the rest of the pellet measurement for the day I see the new pellets uneaten.  Or at last I think it is the new ones.  So I pretent to refill their bowls and give it back to them.  That way they have to eat the new pellets.

Between hubby and Cotton’s being so stubborn they could give lessons to mules. My gosh.

lol I love your posts! They are always so funny and entertaining lol. Hammer does the same, eats all the alfalfa and leaves the timothy. I think he may be catching onto the eat it all and you get more though so thats good. I dont think ill have problems switching Rose to oxbow though, she is still eating her old ones but in a week ill start switching. She loves her pellets!

i feel the same way Liz! i want to go stay at BT’s house, i bet i’d be rolling on the floor with laughter at the antics of her silly buns!

why don’t you put just the new ones in the bowl, let them eat for a little bit, then pour a bit of the old ones in about 5 minutes later? i wodner if that would “trick” them? are you doing the pellets in ratios (90% old & 10% new… 80% old & 20% new… 70% old & 30% new…) do each ration for about 2-3 days then move on to the next… eventually they’re just gonna have to eat the new ones…

Coco TOTALLY picked out the Alfalfa pellets and left the Oxbow ones when I transitioned her from Alfalfa to Oxbow.

She would sit next to the half filled pellet bowl and glare at me from across the room.

Within 3 weeks of the transition plan, she was hooked on Oxbow and now makes a serious dive for me in the morning.

I had the same thing BT I bought a lot of oxbow when I adopted Chuck as that’s what he ate at the shelter. I mixed it with my previous food for all the buns as I wanted to switch them to oxbow as I’ve heard so much good stuff about it.

Well they all pawed through the food, digging oxbow all over and only eating the other food, even Chuck. I ended up vaccuming up about thirty dollars worth of oxbow and I don’t think anyone at it. I just continued feeding what they liked as it was a good high quality pellet as well. Maybe your buns are like mine and don’t want the oxbow since it’s expensive awesome food! Bad buns!

this morning I dumped the old pellets in a dish and put Oxbow in Cotton’s food dish.  He was frantically searching his food bowl for the old pellets.  A little bit ago I saw him eating the new pellets.  I guess thats how it has to go.  A few old pellets and a bunch of new ones in order to make him eat the new ones.

Ruby still has the old ones due to her recovering.  I can switch her later. I just want her to eat right now. Even if it is alfalfa pellets.  She has to eat then in a week or 2 I can start her switch over to timmy pellets too.
